UNBOXING : Skeleton Saturn Hard Girl 1:8 figure

Last year SEGA Prize released 3 SEGA Hard Girls figures exclusively in Wonfes (a Japanese event were toy and figure manufacturers unveil their product lineups), we unboxed all of them for the site, but sadly not everyone was able to get these because of their exclusivity, which ended saddening the western fans not being able to get them.

Luckily, toy manufacturers FREEing and Good Smile Company acquired licensing rights to release SEGA Hard Girls figures, at least they started with 2 announcements: a 1:8 Skeleton Saturn based on the transparent “This is Cool” console version (only sold in Japan) which also appeared with that suit on the Chain Chronicle game, and a Nendoroid based on the Hi Scool SEHA Girls anime counterpart. Though later on, SEGA Prize would end up noticing the characters were popular and ended releasing new version of theirs for general public on UFO Catchers this January 2016.

Both FREEing and GSC figures were released this month, after a couple of weeks with delay due to the high demand. Today we’re unboxing the 1:8 Skeleton Saturn, a 20 cms tall figure made of PVC / ABS. We’ll start looking at the package which has cosmic motifs and looks gorgeous, it also includes the “This is Cool from Saturn logo”.

Once we open the box we end up having a base, the figure itself, and Saturn’s collar (based on NiGHTs which her designer KEI wanted). The collar, skirt, and vest plastic parts are softer due to them having transparent plastic with gradient painting. Gradient painting is a hard thing to achieve on figure production, it requires precision and skill. Such type of process is also present on her “Twin Sticks” staffs. The paint touches in this figure just look gorgeous.

We have to remove the head so we can place her collar.

Once we place her on her base she looks spectacular, enjoy.
