Rumor: Sega making a new Outrun with THQ?

10:22pm 17 Nov '08

Australia’s Office of Film & Literature Classification board has issued ratings for Outrun Online. The title was listed as a multi-platform release.

That isn’t the shocking part, it seems they have Sega listed as publisher and THQ as the author and producer. Maybe Sega is letting THQ use some of their old IPs?

I hope not. This isn’t the first time THQ has made and published some old Sega IPs, they have released several on the Gameboy Advance, like Crazy Taxi.

[Update] Rumor: Sega to publish The Conduit?

If you’ve never heard of The Conduit, its an FPS game for the Wii. It even looks rather good, something that is becoming rare on the console. There has been a lot of speculation as to who will be the publisher of the title, with (apparently) many publishers expressing their interest in the title.

High Voltage Software was meant to announce the publisher of the game during this years Nintendo’s Fall Media Summit, but due to legal/technical reasons could not. Well (I think you all know where I am going with this), some people saw a folder on Sega of America’s FTP called ‘The Conduit‘, that was removed rather quickly.

Sega has yet to respond to this news and no one got a screen capture. So this is a rumor, for the time being.

[Update:] One of the guys from Neo Gaf managed to get some screen dumps before it went down.

Conduit The Conduit

There is always a chance that it is a photoshop job - but it’s a bit of a weird thing to lie about. But we will still take it as a rumour until Sega announces otherwise.

According to a listing on Amazon and Gamefly,  Sega is planning to release a new Sonic Genesis Collection for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

According to the sites, the game will hit the streets Feburary 2009. I’m sure most of you are dying to own more copies of old Sonic games. Maybe Sega will answer fan demand and make them HD versions, that would be nice.

According to Crispy Gamer website, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Sonic Unleashed will have two more levels compared to the Wii and Playstation 2 versions.

“Wii and PS2 will have only a paltry seven, and much crappier graphics.”

Other points he made was that the developers wanted the game to focus on Sonic. They also confirm that Tails, Amy, and Shadow are not playable. But what about Silver Big, Knuckles, and Blaze?

Rumor: Samba de Amigo to be released with maracas add on

Plastic guitars are so lame, plastic maracas are the in thing now. A neogaf forum member found this image on the HMV website. I guess this could be a great idea or could hurt the game in sales. Mostly because most kids don’t grow up wanting to play maracas professionally, like guitar. But also because it might bump up the price. But lots of Nintendo games seem to be using add ons to enhance the experience, so this might be a good thing.

To be honest, I thought the game played very good without plastic maracas.

Rumour: Sega sign a deal with ATI to use DirectX 10.1 in upcoming game?

DirectX

I’m filing this down as a rumour, because I really can’t find much information about this anywhere, but I thought it might interest some of the more technical minded bodies here.

On the Rage3D boards (unofficial ATI community boards) one member, Dave Baumann, (who I believe works for ATI), posted this little slip of information:

“Something that hasn’t been noted yet is that EA and SEGA are signed on with us for DX10.1 titles, we’ve also signed a fairly major deal with Blizzard.”

What does this mean?   Well in all honesty I wouldn’t like to say for certain, as I’m not so clued up on the whole DirectX or graphics cards talk, these days.

One thing it will mean is that Sega is looking to the future, with the (slightly) more advanced abilities this version of DirectX offers developers.  Which is nice.

More wild theories and speculations on this topic, by yours truly, after the break.

Rumor: The Crucible to be shown at E3 [Updated]

5:03pm 15 Jun '08

Posted by George. Filed under George, Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with , , , .

[Update:Soon after posting, a (supposed) video leak for the game was found. We still aren't sure if this is 100 percent legit, but speculations are pointing that way]

Microsoft’s E3 assets have been leaked online, things like them copying Nintendo’s Mii features and so on. Also leaked along with all the Activison stuff was a mention of The Crucible! Apparently the person that found it didn’t know anything about the game, I don’t blame him! Most Sega Nerds thought this game was dead.

No idea if there is a trailer leaked yet, but I hope there is more info soon. If you haven’t heard of this game yet, its rumored to be a Silicon Knights and Sega horror game.

Hopefully we can bring you more information on the game soon, and perhaps confirm whether this gameplay video is real. Stay tuned!

Rumor: Top Skater & Ollie King coming to a Wii near you

Did you buy Wiifit and decide that virtual excerise is not your thing? Well you might not have to worry, its rumored by EGM that Sega will bring both Top Skater and Ollie King with balance board support to the Wii. This isn’t a far fetched idea, Sega did bring one of the first light gun games to the Wii, with support for the zapper. You remember Ghost Squad right?

I’m sure this will make all the Sega fans rather happy. I can’t wait for Ollie King, can’t say I have heard of Top Skater or played it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some yoga to do.

Shinji Mikami (of Resident Evil fame) has an unannounced project with Sega as part of the Platinum Games deal. On the 22nd of this month, Grass Hopper holdings had an event to celebrate their 10th anniversary as a company. Shinji Mikami was there and talked a bit about his future project.

“I can not talk about details, but I’m working right now with Suda.”

It wasn’t confirmed if it is part of the Sega and Platinum Games unannounced project, but if Simon Jeffery is to be believed, Sega has exclusive rights to the studio. Though Shinji can work under Grasshopper Manufacturing.

Let’s hope Suda 51 (Killer 7 and No More Heroes) and Shinji Mikami do team up for the upcoming title. Filed under rumor for now, stay tuned as we wait to find out more.

Rumor: Shenmue port coming to the Wii

4:38am 16 May '08

shen051608.jpg

According to Swedish magazine ‘Game Reactor’, Sega will port both Shenmue 1 and 2 to Nintendo’s Wii. Not just that, they will also add exclusive mini games built around the Wiimote. This was posted in their ‘Rumor Section’.

Shenmue is back! Sega has rereleased classics like Nights,Bass Fishing and House of the Dead lately. Now it’s said that Shenmue is next. But don’t think that it’s about a new game, instead, they’re bringing back the two original Shenmue games with extra Wiimote-minigames which will be released for the Wii.

Well, I wouldn’t hold my breath for this. But lets just say, I’d buy it on day one. No questions asked!
