ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron is March’s Game of the Month!

With all the excitement over the ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove Kickstarter campaign, we thought it’d only make sense to highlight the second game in the series – ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron.

You might remember that we previously had the original ToeJam & Earl as our Game of the Month in June last year. Our unofficial site mascot, The Requiem, also interviewed Earl in one of the weirder interviews he’s conducted so far. Perhaps he’ll be able to sit down with ToeJam later this month!

Why Panic on Funkotron?

This game was a very interesting game on the Genesis. SEGA wasn’t entirely happy with the initial sales numbers of the original ToeJam & Earl and wanted its developers, Greg Johnson and Mark Voorsanger, to create a more marketable game, so they switched from the original’s roguelike format to a 2D sidescroller, which was more popular at the time.

In hindsight, it’s hard to say if SEGA made the right decision, but one thing’s for sure, Panic on Funkotron is a really fun game, and we can’t wait to play it this month!

How it works!

Oh, you’re a new member to the Game of the Month Club, you say? Well, here’s how it works:

It’s a month-long discussion, so we encourage you to participate in the forum thread as often as possible as you experience the game. As usual, we have several articles specific to our Game of the Month.

How you can play!

Thankfully, the original Genesis cart of Panic on Funkotron is reasonably priced, and you can get one easily enough on eBay. If digital is more your thing, here are your options:
