Corey Marshall will voice Ryo Hazuki in Shenmue 3

The latest update for Shenmue 3’s Kickstarter campaign has confirmed what many Western fans have been hoping for – Corey Marshall will return to voice Ryo Hazuki.

“The support for Mr. Marshall to reprise his role as Ryo has been just overwhelming, the update read. “We would all like to thank Corey-san for coming back, and especially for all the support he has given to Shenmue over the years.”

Marshall expressed his interest several times in returning to the series during our interview with him, which you can watch above. There was no mention in the update on whether the rest of the English voice cast will return, but they have stated their desire to do so multiple times on social media.

There is also a new reward tier at $1,000 (it includes the $500 tier) to have Marshall voice a custom voice message, and it will be included on all rewards at $2,000 and higher.

Shenmue 3’s Kickstarter has 16 days to go and has raised $3.75 million, with nearly 47,000 backers. Its next stretch goal is at $4 million to expand Baisha Village and add five new mini-games.
