Review: Dinosaur King
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Nintendo DS, Review. Tagged with Anime, Dinosaur King.

My only contact with the Dinosaur King world was playing the kiddie arcade title at ATEI 2007, but that didn’t do much to explain the story or anything about the franchise. From what I have been told, it is a little bit like Pokemon/DigiMon, with kids using dinosaurs to fight instead of random cute creatures.
But I was ready and willing to step up and check out the DS title, and see what all the fuss is about.
Valkyria Chronicles is getting animated
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Anime, Valkyria Chronicles.

Sega has decided to give Valkyria Chronicles a televised anime adaptation in Japan. The anime will be done by by A-1 pictures, a studio funded by Sony.
The studio is known for their work on Persona Trinity Soul and Birdy Decode. The anime will be released in Spring of 2009, about a year after the game originally came out.
Now will this anime get a western release? I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Infinite Space gets animated
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Nintendo DS. Tagged with Anime, Infinite Space, TGS.
Sega and Platinum Games are going to release short animated films to Infinite Space. The first of the films will be aired at TGS on October 9th, after October 17th the films will be free on game’s official website.
This isn’t going to be some cheap production either. The film will be handled by both Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) and GONZO (Afro Samurai). Yasufumi Soejima (Yukikaze) will be directing.
No idea if the animated short films will be prequels to the upcoming game (like the Yakuza short films) or if its totally new story. I hope this animated series gives Infinite Space some much needed life. The series has looked bland to me, so its nice to see something like this announced.

World Destruction a new RPG for the DS
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Nintendo DS. Tagged with Anime, Manga.

This game will be published by Sega and developed by Image Epoch. The game will feature music from Yasunori Mitsuda (Xenogears and Chrono Trigger), scenarios written by Masato Kato (Xenogears and Chrono Trigger) , characters designed by Kunihiko Tanaka (Xenosaga Episode I), produced by Youichi Shimosato (Shining Tears), and directed by Ryoei Mikage (Luminous Arc and Disgaea 2).
The story is typical RPG story. You play as a kid named Kirie. You hold a destructive power and don’t know why. Also in the game, a young female named Morte. She is a part of a terrorist organization plotting to destroy the world. Well that connected the two characters nicely. Gameplay will be turn-based with fighting game elements.
There will also be a anime and manga based on the show. That is going to come out in July 2008. Game is suppose to be out summer 2008.

IGN get the Bleach out, in the US
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii. Tagged with Anime, Bleach.
That’s right, (if you haven’t quite understood the title), the lucky chaps at IGN have been able to get their grubby mits on the English language (that is to say, US) version of the upcoming Wii and DS game, Bleach, at the Comic-Con in San Diego.
The game isn’t due out in the west until later this year (fall, sometime), but from the sounds of it the western release is shaping up to be the same as the Japanese version… but now, all of us uneducated westerners can actually understand the game.
“Bleach: Shattered Blade isn’t a “follow the USA story” kind of game; it’s a straight port of the Japanese release. This means that while Bleach may not be as far in America as it is over in Japan, you’re still going to get all 28 fighters {Note: Actually 32 fighters- IGN are mistaken it seems}Â with each of their extra costumes, tons of concept art and fan-service bonus features, storyline pieces that may go above and beyond what the worldwide crowd knows outside of Japan, and most importantly you’ll get fighters that may not be in the English story first. You asked, so we passed the question along.”
To help summarise;
“Bleach Wii is for all the import nuts out there that wanted Bleach but didn’t want to worry about the Japanese text, and SEGA is bringing the full game to the US with no changes made (aside from localization, of course).”
From what they say, in the full article, the game sounds pretty fun. To read more of what IGN thought of the US version, be sure check out their preview.
Bleach is heading to Europe, North America

Wow, today is a good day for Sega Nerds. We’ve already learned of Virtua Fighter 5’s online capabilities for the 360 and have finally been told of Sega’s secret RPG. Now we’ve just been told that Sega will be bringing two Bleach games to Europe and North America for the Nintendo Wii and DS.
Featuring more than 20 characters, Bleach: Shattered Blade will be released on the Nintendo Wii, while Bleach: The Blade of Fate will be released on the DS in early 2008.
“The content of the Bleach story lends itself perfectly to an action-packed arcade fighting game with a heavy dose of mighty sword battles,” says Gary Knight, European marketing director, Sega Europe. “Both the flexibility of the Wii and the portability of the DS have allowed us to bring the intense action of Bleach to a wide variety of gamers and make a great companion to the awesome forthcoming TV series.”
Hit the jump for the full release.
