[This makes me miss the VMU, even if it was a bit gimmicky]
For those of you who don’t keep up with Dreamcast news, Rush Rush Rally Racing is being developed by Senile Team, the developers of Beats of Rage. The boys over at SegaOnline have gotten an interview with the team and some new screens of the game.
If you examined the screens you’d be able to tell that this title is a top-down racing game, you clever detective! The game has no release date as of yet, but the team does say it is almost finished.

Check out the Sega Museum in video format

Did you go to Japan Expo in Paris this year? I didn’t either. But Romain from JV247 did and even filmed it for us to enjoy. It is like we where there, only that we skipped all the anime stuff and went straight for what we wanted, the Sega Museum.
They where even nice enough to put the Segata Sanshiro theme music in the video, makes me shed a tear, a manly tear. In the video, there is a girl next to a Sega sign, I’m sure UK:R would love that.

Twin Sticks EX going into production
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, Retro. Tagged with 300 dollars, Twin Sticks EX, Virtual On, XBLA.

Sega has confirmed that Twin Sticks EX are going into production. Last week Sega said that the pre-orderes where going well. It seems they went so well that they got those 1,500 pre-orders before the deadline. The last day to pre-order is on July 2nd.
In other Virtual On news, Sega has launched a page to show off the new update that is coming on July 1st (tomorrow!). This update will add support for online match viewing, let players waiting in lobby watch the match going on, adds a special “Graphic Arrange” feature to the settings menu, brings some slight changes to the light and shadow effects, makes changes to controls, and most importantly fixes bugs that where found in the game.
To get the new update, simply boot the game up. I’m assuming the update will be world wide, but I guess we will find out on July 1st.

Sega to join Japan Expo in Paris
Posted by George. Filed under Europe, George, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Retro. Tagged with Bayonetta, Japan Expo, Let's Tap, Museum Sega, Paris, Phantasy Star Ø, Virtua Tennis 2009.
Sega has confirmed that they will be at the upcoming Japan Expo, in Paris. They will be showing exclusive games, like the first playable western build of Phantasy Star Ø.
Sega is also bringing playable versions of Bayonetta, Let’s Tap and Virtua Tennis 2009. They will be announcing a DS game in Europe, a few days before the show and that game will be playable at Japan Expo for the first time. The unannounced game will be a localized version of a Japanese DS game, according to the source. Maybe 7th Dragon or Shining Force Feather? I wish!
If that wasn’t enough, Sega will have their own Museum stand at the expo. Called ‘MUSEUM SEGA,’ it will have the entire history of Sega, all 80 years.
They expect more than 150,000 visitors this year, hopefully a few of those visitors are Sega Nerds. Japan Expo will run from July 2 to 5 at the Exhibition Center Paris Nord Villepinte. Sega stand will be at Hall 4, under ‘Video Games.’

RIP Michael Jackson - Sega gaming legend

With the news of Michael Jackson’s death, it is a sad day for the music industry but also for the gaming world (albeit to a lesser extent).
While Michael Jackson is mostly famous for his music career and crazy social life, we should not forget that he was also an icon of the gaming world.
Innex bringing updated Sega Nomad-style handheld
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Retro, Video. Tagged with E3, Fan Stuff, Fire Box, Genesis, Innex Inc, Mega Drive, Nomad, Portable.

Hardware distributor Innex Inc. is set to release an updated version of the Sega Nomad with the “Retro Gen.” It doesn’t use the Nomad name and it doesn’t look the same, but it is officially licensed by Sega and unlike other portable Mega Drives this one will take original Mega Drive titles.
But best of all Innex is promising a special download service, also officially licensed by Sega, that will allow gamers to download classic Mega Drive/Genesis titles but also brand new licensed Mega Drive games - with their “Fire Box” technology. Now that does sound awesome.
More information, including video after the break.

Check out this awesome Sega music quiz
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Retro. Tagged with 32X, Dreamcast, Fan Stuff, Fun Stuff, Game Gear, Genesis, Mega Drive, Quiz, Saturn, Sega Music.

Not sure how many (if any) of you have seen this before, as it’s a couple of months old, but it has only just been brought to our attention. It’s a GamePops quiz all about Sega music.
Basically players are faced with 64 blank tiles. When you click on a tile it plays a 20 second clip of music from a Sega game and you have to type which game you think it is into the box. Simple eh?
Simple, but also fun. It’s a fantastic trip down memory lane for many as the game music sampled is all from Sega-made consoles, from GameGear/Master System up to Dreamcast.
It’s also incredibly frustrating, the amount of clips played that I recognise, but for the life of me can’t remember what game they are from - ooh! And it also reminds me of just how crap video game music is these days - those old Megadrive and even Game Gear tunes are easily the best, I think game companies need to bring back that 16-bit sound.
Anyway if you want to challenge your musical memory and also treat yourself to some good game music, then check out this quiz!
Just a word of warning, not all the games are Sega-made or exclusive to Sega consoles, most are but there’s a few that were popular on Sega consoles even though they might have also appeared on the SNES or Playstation.
