If you didn’t know, the HD version of Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse became available for pre-order on the PlayStation Network yesterday. If you threw down $15 for the game, you received a digital version of the Genesis version of the game, three avatars and a theme.
Having never played the original game before, I figured it’d be fun to livestream it while drinking a few glasses of moonshine. It didn’t go so well for me, and an hour into my play through, I was thoroughly intoxicated and went on a long rant about a bunch of nonsense. I apologize for the bad language, but I stand by my criticisms. 😉

Lol. I love the big sigh at game over. Sums up classic gaming perfectly.
Haha. This game is pretty damn tough, which I was expecting, but I didn’t think the level design would be as challenging as it is. I love how the screen turns upside down in the second level, though. That was an amazing surprise.
I enjoyed watching your video… Near the end, when the continue screen disappeared into the title screen your commentary had me rolling! Yes, there should have been a timer. Oher than the bottomless pits, the game is still one of my favorite Sega titles from the 16-bit era. I have very fond, distant memories of playing the game when I was younger…
Hopefully the HD remake retains the feel of the original while refining the mechanics. Also, hopefully a goddamn timer will be added to the continue screen!
About to jump into the original game now, for the first time in years, thanks to the cool PSN exclusive pre-order bonus… beer in hand.
Take care and game on!
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it.
