Interview: Mike Kennedy on the Coleco Chameleon at the NY Toy Fair

We traveled to the New York Toy Fair last weekend to check out the latest the toy industry has to offer, and while we were there, we stopped by the Coleco Chameleon booth to see the much anticipated prototype.

We talked to Mike Kennedy, who’s spearheading the Chameleon project, to get the latest details on the Chameleon’s Kickstarter, the SNES controversy and much more.

Kennedy said his team plans to launch the Chameleon Kickstarter on Feb. 26, with a much smaller funding goal than their previous Indiegogo campaign and an early bird price of $135 to get the console, a controller and a pack-in game. When the Chameleon is released, Kennedy and his team plan to have several unreleased Genesis games on the system.

  1. Hey sega nerds I really like your blog and honest thoughtful opinions but please don’t devote your web space to this snake oil product there are many more stories that deserve your time much more than this.

    1. Hey, Kye. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

You’re not alone in your concerns surrounding the Coleco Chameleon. I love the idea – a lot – but I have serious reservations based on what I’ve seen and heard so far. I still think it is a worthy topic to bring up for discussion here on the SEGA Nerds site, though, as there is a lot of retro gaming fan interest surrounding it, even if much of that interest isn’t positive.

You mentioned that there are more stories that you think deserve more time from us- don’t be such a tease! Let us know what you’d like us to be covering! If something is slipping through the cracks, I’d love to know about it. I’m quite the expert at exploring cracks, I’ll have you know…

      Thanks for reading!
