SEGA is considering Remaking Yakuza 2, 3, 4, and 5 for PS4
The Yakuza series is no stranger to getting remastered titles. In Japan, Yakuza 1, and 2 were all remastered for the PlayStation 3 and had sold well commercially. According to a livestream that was streamed earlier this week, Producer Toshihiro Nagoshi stated that Yakuza: Kiwami has sold very well and SEGA is considering ways to remake Yakuza 2,3,4, and 5 for PlayStation 4.
Nagoshi-san did not make any promises, but it could be a possibility, given the commercial success of Yakuza: Kiwami. Would you like to see those Yakuza titles remastered for the PS4? Discuss in the comments below!

Just a heads up.
‘In Japan, Yakuza 1,2, and 3 were all remastered for the PlayStation 3 and had sold well commercially.’
Actually, Yakuza 3 was not remastered, it has always been a PS3 game 🙂
Ah yes, you’re right! Haha thanks
I would love to see a remake of Yakuza 2 but I really don’t need to revisit the ones after that.
Personally I don’t want them too as I’m fed up of the amount of remasters this generation. I want new games now please.
However, I still think if this series was marketed properly here (the UK) it could do really well so if that meant remasters and Sega getting Yakuza more attention and sales then so be it. But there’s no point redoing them all and then being happy with just a few thousand sales here and there outside Japan. Grow some balls, market it and make it as well known and loved as it should be.
just do it….
I’ve not played Kiwami so it is impossible to say anything yet.
But the Yakuza games have always fell below expectations. The story always gets increasingly convoluted and the gameplay while fun is extremely limited and monotonous. A remake would allow them to create more of an interactive Shenmue style world and less beat em up/dating sim game with a hub world.
The story is the most important thing to me. I remember completely being incapable of following the messy character dynamics of Yakuza 1. Who the fuck was Terada? But nothing was worse than the stupid ending. The man has a handgun, Kazuma is unarmed. Data is flying around a helicopter like a bafoon. WTF is wrong with everyone. Take the mother fucker down. Why is everyone acting like a complete moron? How the hell did Kazuma and company survive an explosion inches away from them? WTF?
Yakuza 2 took things even further with the messy interstate warfare. The new Nishki was just an asshole. I didn’t care for him one bit. But it wouldn’t be a Yakuza game with a shitty nonsensical rooftop ending. This time with a ticking time bomb. Yet, no one in the Yakuza cares and Kazuma has to go fight mano e mano with a madman and dead characters will mysteriously be resurrected only to die moments later. WTF.
I could go on but I stopped caring. I actually enjoyed Yakuza 3. Maybe I have gotten inured with all the nonsense or maybe it was a simpler game. Yakuza 4 was probably the worst in the series. 4 characters presented the opportunity to tell a single story through 4 unique perspectives it didn’t capitalize on that and it featured a top secret super prision with the most laughably absurd prison break of all time.
hell yes; i would love to have all these in the west / usa; when i get my hands on an english version, i be up all hours of the night playing the hell out of yakuza; i need kimami to come state side !!!!!!
I am all for a remake of the Yakuza games. There are so many diehard fans that would be willing to play them at their best, (except these duds commenting here.) LOL. Just kidding.
