Sonic Team Confirms That They’re Making a New Sonic Game
SEGA has been celebrating Sonic’s 25th anniversary for the past couple of months with brand new Sonic merchandise and promotions. Plenty of hints were dropped about a potential new Sonic game, but SEGA has never officially announced that one was in development. During a recent interview with Famitsu magazine, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka confirmed that “a completely new game” is coming. In addition to the new Sonic game, Iizuka also mentioned the Sonic Boom series and the Sonic movie from Sony Pictures.
“We at Sonic Team – are developing a completely new game, as well as developing a full movie, actively done by Sony Pictures, and animation on Sonic Boom. We are also ready to improve sponsor ties. The most important thing is not the fact the series survived for 25 years, but how many games was developed. Our goal – add something new and overcome any potential hardships.” — Takashi Iizuka
It is very likely that SEGA will officially reveal the newest Sonic game at Sonic’s 25th Anniversary party on July 22nd. What do you hope to see in the new game? Sound off in the comments below!

So I’m on the expectation with a new game and movie of our beloved hedgehog, Need a Generations 2 or a remake that is Sonic Classic.
Ignore me, I haven’t got a clue 😀
Ugh…everybody wants Classic Sonic or a Generations 2. I’ve been playing Sonic my entire life, and I haven’t had a problem with ONE of SEGA’s games. I’m starting to think I’m the only actual Sonic fan who wants something new and NOT classic. Don’t get me wrong, the classics are classics and I’ll always love them. But that’s exactly what they are, classic. To keep expanding on something original gets tiresome, you know? And before anyone throws shots at my statement, yes I enjoyed Sonic ’06 very much. That was ten years ago, get over it. I also do like that they’re keeping Boom going. It’s something new to love and just cuz it’s not “Classic” doesn’t mean it’s not Sonic. Do you even know how many Spider-Man’s there are…?
