Retro Freak’s Game Gear Converter delayed

Cyber Gadget’s Retro Freak is a pretty nice piece of neo retro goodness. The system can play games from a ton of classic cartridge-based systems, ranging from the TurboGrafx-16 to the Master System (If you want some detailed coverage, please check out or review).

The system’s capabilities are to be extended thanks to the upcoming Game Gear Converter, which will add support for Game Gear, SG-1000 and SEGA Mark III games. It was supposed to ship Feb. 13, but Play Asia sent us an email today notifying us it’s been delayed. The new release date, is simply “Q2 2016,” with an estimated ship date of March 29.

Play Asia didn’t provide any additional reasons for the delay, but we’ll reach out to them and try to get more information. This news is certainly a bummer for those of us eager to play our Game Gear games on our Retro Freaks, but hopefully this will be a short delay, and we’ll get them next month!

You can pre-order the Game Gear Converter from Play Asia here.
