SEGA at JAEPO report

Last week was big for SEGA arcade news, there was a huge lineup at JAEPO (Japan Entertainment Expo), and a couple of announcements.

FIGHTING CLIMAX

Crossover between SEGA and light novel publisher, Dengeki Bunko, Fighting Climax is surely the popular title everybody has been excited about. SEGA announced Kirito (from popular anime, Sword Art Online) as a playable character, the last batch of new characters were available at the game too. SEGA released a new gameplay video and updated the official site which you can visit right here, it includes a page explaining the combat system, the current updated lineup of characters, and a gallery of special attacks.

BLADE ARCUS FROM SHINING

The big surprise was a new Shining title, but instead of being an RPG, this one was a Fighting Arcade game, Blade Arcus. The game features a couple of characters from previous games (some of them yet to be announced) and some new ones, all of them Illustrated by current character designer of the series, Tony Taka. The game will have a special tag system to fight. You can visit the official site here.

GUILTY GEAR X3RD –SIGN-

One of the most awaited (but yet underrated in America) fighting games, it used to be a Sammy title but now is in the hands of SEGA since the merging. Arc System always develops good fighting games, and this one looks very promising. There has been a major redesign on the characters, and Arc System dropped the 2D sprites to make them polygonal now. The game will be in operation on February 20th. You can visit the official site here.

HERO BANK ARCADE

The Hero Bank Arcade was showed for the 1st time at JAEPO, it features the same money and hero cloths system as the 3DS version, but the arcade will also feature a 3 vs 3 tag battle system and cards will be used too. The arcade has a button with dice that is used to attack in the game.

INITIAL D ARCADE STAGE 8 INFINITY

The popular racer based on the Initial D manga and anime, has a new sequel on arcade. The downhill racing will feature the new “glass of water system” like in the series. The arcade will feature the ALL. Net system which allows players to race online.

WONDERLAND WARS

Sega announced a new MOBA action strategy game for arcade called Wonderland Wars. The game uses an intuitive pen device to draw lines on screen as attacks on enemies while the characters are controlled with a joystick, the pen can also be used to write stuff on the map; it has a fairytale environment happening on a 4 vs 4 team co-op online system. BORDER BREAK SCRAMBLE

The game will be released this spring, and it is named liked that because of the new “Scramble Battle” event, which features players competing for a certain amount of Nyudo that appear on the map, players with the most amount win.  New battle system also features stealth and surprise attacks.

DOA 5 ULTIMATE

It features a new Lolita character called Marie Rose, aside from that there’s not much news on this game.

OTHER TITLES OF INTEREST

Fist of the Northstar Battle Medal, Puyo Puyo Quest Arcade, Code of Joker, G. Rev’s Under Defeat HD,  and… M2 and Unknown Games’ fighting game, Koihime, which has a trailer, watch it below:
