Shenmue fans have decided to mass mail Sega of Japan with a simple request: Shenmue 3. Most of us here at Sega Nerds love this series, so we decided to post about their effort.
What are they going to mail? Toy capsules of course. Hit the jump to see more detailed instructions.
Crazy Sega Nerds: Surreal Shenmue dance

[Warning: This is possibly the strangest video we have ever posted. You probably want to read the description before pressing play]
This video link was randomly sent to us, and to be perfectly honest I’m not sure what to make of it. So naturally I have decided to share it with you all! I guess some will call this “art” - I just call it strange.
It is basically some guy dancing topless, with weird psychedelic colours, arty editing and the Shenmue theme as background music.
The one thing that got me though wasn’t just the weird ‘dancing’ or use of colours but the video appears to contain some perculiar subliminal messages, which I have noted down for you (after the break).
Shenmue Campaign steps it up a notch - but will it work?

Along with their new site design the guys behind Shenmue Campaign have decided to step up their attempts to get Sega to release Shenmue III and complete the saga. Something that pretty much all Sega Nerds want.
Rather than just getting people to sign a petition, which most sites do, Shenmue Campaign is asking every Shenmue fan to write letters, emails, one line sentences to them, and they will send them all off to Sega Japan - in a bid to show that fans still want the game.
Relax! Yu Suzuki still with Sega

After telling Gamasutra on Monday that legendary game creator Yu Suzuki was no longer at Sega, Simon Jeffery released a statement today correcting his error, much to the relief of the three diehard Sega fans left.
“I can safely say that Yu Suzuki is in fact still a Sega employee,” said Jeffrey in a corrective statement made to Gamasutra today, adding that Suzuki “…is a Creative Officer of Sega Corp.”
So there you have it. Ol’ Yu is still an employee of Sega, doing who knows what with his time, because they sure as heck aren’t letting him make Shenmue 3.

Nintendo Power interviews Yuzo Koshiro

You might know Yuzo Koshiro for his musical works on popular Sega series’ like Shenmue, Streets of Rage, and Shinobi. Lately he hasn’t been working with Sega much, but its always good to know more about our favorite composers.
Koshiro says his most memorible moment in composing was when he did the Shenmue OST, I think that game has been memorible to all of us.When asked if he wanted a Streets of Rage revival, he responded with hopes for one. A new Streets of Rage with Koshiro on sountrack duty is a step in the right direction.

Rumor: Shenmue port coming to the Wii
Posted by George. Filed under George, Nintendo Wii. Tagged with rumor, Shenmue.

According to Swedish magazine ‘Game Reactor’, Sega will port both Shenmue 1 and 2 to Nintendo’s Wii. Not just that, they will also add exclusive mini games built around the Wiimote. This was posted in their ‘Rumor Section’.
Shenmue is back! Sega has rereleased classics like Nights,Bass Fishing and House of the Dead lately. Now it’s said that Shenmue is next. But don’t think that it’s about a new game, instead, they’re bringing back the two original Shenmue games with extra Wiimote-minigames which will be released for the Wii.
Well, I wouldn’t hold my breath for this. But lets just say, I’d buy it on day one. No questions asked!

Shenmue may no longer be most expensive game developed
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris. Tagged with Shenmue.

For the past 18 or so years, Shenmue has held the title as the most expensive game to ever be developed at about $70 million. However, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV may have eclipsed Yu Suzuki’s masterpiece.
In talking with the Times Online, GTA IV’s Producer Leslie Benzies said he believes the title may have eclipsed the $100 million mark with more than 1,000 people working on the game. “It’s like making a theatre production, a few movies and an album all to fit into one package,†he said.
It will be interesting to see if Rockstar ever confirms this price, because Shenmue currently holds the record in Guinness Worlds Records Gamer Edition.

This Month in Sega History: Shenmue
Posted by Chris. Filed under News. Tagged with Shenmue, Yu Suzuki.

On this day seven years ago, Sega forever changed the gaming landscape when it shipped Yu Suzuki’s masterpiece Shenmue for the Dreamcast on Nov. 8, 2000. Ultimately, the title didn’t sell as well as Sega hoped despite it pouring anywhere from a reported $20 million to $70 million into development, which, at the time, was the most ever spent on a video game. However, from a gamer and Sega Nerd’s standpoint, Shenmue marked the beginning of a new era.
At this point, probably every gamer out there knows Shenmue’s story like the front of their hairy palm, but it’s still one of the best we’ve ever experienced.
In an era when most games required players to continually save a kidnapped princess or revolved around a young kid from a small town destined to save the world, Shenmue began with Ryo Hazuki witnessing his father murdered in cold blood by Lan Di, a leader of a Chinese gang. Using this development as its backbone, the story follows Ryo as he begins his quest in avenging his father’s death and possibly saving the world in his own right by reclaiming the stolen Dragon Mirror.
