Space Siege details, screens revealed

Now that we finally know about Gas Powered Games‘ and Sega’s new RPG, Space Siege, it’s time that we now see what the game’s going to look like and find out a bit more about the story.
It goes a bit like this: Aliens attack Earth (Has that ever happened before?), but five colony ships attempt to evacuate as many people as possible. However, only one of the five colony ships, the Armstrong, escapes intact before Earth is completely obliterated by the aliens, according to a Sega fact sheet.
In the game, you’ll control Seth Walker (cool name, eh?), who is a combat engineer on the Armstrong. You must protect the human race from utter destruction from the mean ol’ aliens and along the way must choose if you’ll sacrifice your “humanity to save the human race.”
You may be asking what the hell that means. Well, you can stay entirely human throughout the game or enhance your body with cybernetic technology, giving Seth different skills and abilities an ordinary human could never have.
Kinda like in Phantasy Star Online, you’ll get a robot companion, named HR-V (Thankfully, not HIV). HR-V’s armor, weapons and special equipment can be upgraded throughout your travels, and it can help you out in battle by attacking, defending or performing special combo attacks with Seth.
The game also features up to four player mission-based multiplayer. These missions are specially designed for the online portion. The game allows you to customize the enemy’s difficulty and toughness.
Space Siege will launch on the PC in 2008. Fo shit!

Some forward-thinking individual has set the recently released gameplay footage of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams to music from the original game. The results? Well, it’s actually a lot more enjoyable- though that might be intense, unchecked nostalgia talking. See for yourself:

Sega has ‘diverse lineup,’ reveals release dates … kinda
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris. Tagged with Bleach, Condemned, E3, Ghost Squad, Golden Compass, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, Sega Rally Revo, Sonic Rush, Space Siege, The Club, Universe at War, Virtua Fighter 5.

After reading what Simon Jeffrey had to say, it doesn’t seem like Sega has any last-minute surprises up its sleeve for E3 2007, but it seems really excited nonetheless.
With 13 games showcased for a variety of platforms, Sega’s billing this year’s showing as its most diverse multi-platform lineup ever.
“Sega’s mission is to publish fun and entertaining games for people wherever and whenever they want to play,†said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, Sega of America. “For some titles like The Golden Compass we’ll provide a compelling and similar game experience across all the major systems, and for other games like Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games or NiGHTS we create specific gameplay unique to the capabilities of a platform like the Wii or DS. And with Universe at War we are leading the pack as the first third-party publisher to announce a game that takes advantage of cross platform play between an Xbox 360 and Windows. We are proud to show the world all of these games and more this week at E3.”
Along with the press release, Sega added in seasonal release dates for most of its upcoming lineup and all the games present at E3. Hit the jump for the full release and more information about the games and release dates.
Simon Jeffrey talks about everything a Sega Nerd could want to know
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Interviews, News, Sonic. Tagged with Aliens, E3, Golden Axe, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams.
Wow, I’m really starting to like this Simon Jeffrey character. In an interview with Gamespot, the Sega of America COO talked about everything from how development is going with Golden Axe, why Sega seems to have shifted focus away from its Japanese development teams and he even talked about the changes in this year’s E3.
While you can read the full interview at Gamespot, here’s a breakdown of what Jeffrey revealed:
- At E3, Sega wants to show the growth it’s gone through in the last few years, its success with Western publishing and that they’ve “attained the portfolio management approach that [they've] been talking about for a couple of years.”
- Sega considered showing Golden Axe at this year’s E3 but decided against it because it wants to have a grand unveiling. Now plans are to have a special showing this fall and plans to release the game next spring on the 360 and PS3. “It’s looking absolutely beautiful, and it’s got some real good moments from the classic arcade game connect that the gamers will appreciate.”
One more for the road - New Sega Rally Revo video
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with E3, Sega Rally Revo.
We’ve seen gameplay videos for practically every upcoming Sega game already today, and now I bring you one more - Sega Rally Revo.
While not showing anything that we haven’t seen before, it does showcase more of that awesome rally gameplay that we’ve all come to love. Here’s some information that we do know about the game, though.
- There will be eight environments with six tracks each;
- Sega plans for around 34 vehicles in the final version;
- There should be some old favorites making a return as well as some “wacky” bonus cars; and
- Downloadable content is still being thrown around with the possibility of classic tracks being added.
Sega said there a “tropical/jungle environment, the Nordic environment, as well as safari and arctic environments,” according to Gamespot.
The Club video drops it like it’s hot

While all the other Sega Nerds staff writers give you links to videos, your favorite editor “one-ups” them by bringing you the goods RIGHT NOW! A gameplay video for The Club has just been released.
Aside from sounding like the characters are shooting BB guns, it looks like the game is shaping up nicely. Hopefully, Sega will release some more information over the couple of days that sheds some more light on the characters in the game.

Sega’s E3 floorplan revealed
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris. Tagged with E3.
This year’s E3 floorplan was revealed today, and even though this year’s expo promises to be smaller than those before it, it looks like Sega will have just as big a booth (Well, if you call a 20 foot by 20 foot booth big, that is.) as its long-time hardware competitors – Sony and Nintendo.
Last year, Sega announced or showed about 20 games, a couple of which (The Club and Sega Rally Revo) should be shown again this year.
Check the jump for the full E3 floorplan.
