SEGA Genesis Flashback ship date, game list revealed

The system ships to retailers on Nov. 10 with an $80 price tag

AtGames is gearing up for the release of its flagship SEGA Genesis Flashback, and they’ve sent us over the system’s ship date and the final list of games that will come pre-installed on the unit.

The Genesis Flashback will ship to retailers on Nov. 10 with a $79.99 price tag. The Flashback looks like a Model 1 Genesis and will have 85 pre-installed games, 2.4ghz wireless controllers, a cartridge slot, controller ports compatible with legacy Genesis controllers, scan-line filtering and a save/pause/rewind feature.

AtGames has sent us the latest version to review, and while we can’t give our final opinion until mid-October when the embargo is lifted, we can say this is a much higher quality system than previous AtGames products. We’re hoping to begin sharing live-stream footage in the next week but are awaiting confirmation from AtGames.

  • Dint this System released already and had poor sound ?

I hope this is significantly better than anything AtGames has put out previously. The HDMI and the look of the product are enough to get me excited about the possibility, but I hope the price tag justifies the product’s quality. Their previous products have left a lot to desire.
Your hinting towards a positive is a good sign, but I will be eagerly waiting for a review as I am more interested in this than Nintendo’s SNES Classic, but it seems like Nintendo set the bar pretty high with their offering!
The hard part is I have most of these games on so many platforms already, can I justify buying them again at $80 for convenience and nostalgia? Maybe!
The cartridge slot is such a huge plus, I hope is good!

    They need to STOP!

  • Charlie Anderson

It’ll be complete crap, just like all other ATGames products.

Sega should take control of this product, make a proper Mega Drive Mini, like Nintendo (or even better: with SD card support). And official Mega Drive controllers.

  • Hikingguy

Quick question, I believe originally there was some poor reviews for this product a few months ago. Did AtGames delay the release? Because now that I think about it, I thought this should have been out already. If so, I hope they addressed some of people’s biggest grips.

    • Luis

I think it was scheduled for september, and yes, it had bad ratings and they said they’d delay it to fix a few things.

If they added SD card, Sonic 3, and bluetooth gamepads, I’d buy it. Currently it’s only very close to the great product it could be.

      • Hikingguy

That is what I thought, thanks!
I think it already has HDMI and I do not know about bluetooth, but I know there are 2 wireless controllers included for sure. But I am one of those people who still likes to plug my old controller in the port and have the cord running across my room.
An SD card would be very interesting indeed.
Since this is 2017, I just hope they get the emulation to acceptable levels for all the games they included and then, have the ability to accurately play the vast majority of carts people might have.
I hope it is good, but with my previous experience with AtGames, I have my expectations pretty low. I hope they surprise me.
Previous AtGames products have taught me never to pre-order their products. I will wait for reviews.

        • Luis

Yes, I didn’t realize it had hdmi. That’s great! I changed it to”Sonic 3″, hehe.

I’d also ask to remove the homebrew games. They just “blur” the catalog. Nobody wants that.

Anyway, it should be Sega who make a Mega Drive mini 🙂

          • Hikingguy

You are 100% correct, Sega should be making this product! However, being from the States, I would be partial to the Genesis name, but, that being said, the Mega Drive Mini has a nice ring to it 🙂

I am pretty indifferent on the extra games as they are easily ignored. Obviously, they are there to inflate the number on the box, but if AtGames removed them, I doubt they would add any more quality games instead. But if they did, I have more than a few suggestions I would like to see added!

          • Luis

Hehe. Well, they could make both the Genesis and the Mega Drive mini, like Nintendo sus with Super NES and Super Famicom mini 🙂

And about the homebrew games, I wouldn’t ask them to add original Mega Drive games instead. Just that they remove them xD

Did you get a chance to review the console?
