Check out SEGA’s 90s training video for the game test department

During the first half of the 1990s, SEGA was considered to be the king of the video game industry. Because of Tom Kalinske, his hardworking crew, and the brilliant marketing (Welcome to the Next Level), SEGA eventually overtook Nintendo as the most popular video company in North America.

Of course the name of the game is the game, and game testers have an important role to make sure that each title received SEGA’s official seal of quality. One user recently dug up an old video that showcased the life of a video game tester (which you can check out above) and their daily routine. The video even included SEGA of America’s former president, Tom Kalinske!

The video interviewed multiple employees from SEGA’s test department, and many of them seemed to genuinely enjoy what they did, despite the long hours and relentless bug testing. One employee mentioned that he had no television at home so he could come to work fully focused on the dozens of games that he had to test.

Check out the video above and let us know what you think in the comments!
