Sonic Mania coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC in spring 2017
The big announcement we’ve all been waiting for has been dropped at tonight’s Sonic 25th Anniversary Party in San Diego.
Sonic Mania will return Sonic to his roots in a new 2D platformer developed in collaboration between SEGA, Christian Whitehead, Headcannon and PagodaWest.
The new entry in the Sonic series will include classic levels mixed with entirely new zones and will feature Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as playable characters.
What’s more, SEGA is showcasing a playable demo for attendees of tonight’s Sonic anniversary event.
Sonic Mania will release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in spring 2017. No mention of a Wii U release, lol.
Will await judgement until I have played it, of course, but it just looks… really naff. Reeks of an idea at five to five on a Friday. And that music, dear God it’s dreadful.
They made a huge deal about a new Sonic game and this is it?

Fantastic news. Hopefully there will be a physical copy to pick up. Scanlines overlay would be cool too. Don’t blow this sega!
I need a blu ray physical for this with a manual. They really need to make it limited for those who would want a physical.
