Tonight, us crazy Americans will watch with bated breath as the $1.5 billion Powerball drawing takes place, making some lucky person or persons instantly rich and nagged by old friends and family they haven’t spoken to in decades.
However, we wanted to ask all our readers if you were so lucky to win the Powerball jackpot and bought SEGA with your prize money, what changes would you make in the company.
Think they should chip in a cool $20 million to the Shenmue III Slacker Backer campaign? Or go back into the hardware business and finally develop that Dreamcast 2 everyone’s been talking about recently?
It’s all on the line, so come up with your wildest answers, and we’ll read off our favorites on next week’s SEGA Nerdcast episode!

I’ve always dream of this, winning enough money to buy Sega from Sammy Holdings, or whatever their called now, and not the other acquired studios sammy has, like Creative Assembly, Relic Entertainment, Atlus, and so on, just Sega, i would use the money to strengthen Sega 2nd party studios, and i’ll see if i can revive some old studios and get there logo back, like United Game Artists, Hitmaker, Overworks, Smilebit, and Amusement Vision, and see if any of the members that left Sega due to the merger will like to come back, and finally i will get Sega back into the console game, making a new Console, called the Sega Rebirth. well if i could do all of that with 1.5 Billion, which I bout I could. but if i had the money to do it, i so would.
I’d make Sonic open source and run Sonic fan game jams almost constantly. Then I’d hire the top game dev and have them make the next Sonic game.
Cause I mean, Sonic Boom obviously didn’t work game wise and I’ve seen poor Click and Create/Multi Media Fusion games better than that.
Well okay Sonic Boom had some nice models I guess.
Then Outrun 2019 gets a remake sequel, more Afterburner, Zillion gets remade by Atlus as an RPG and then a Shin Magami Tensei crossover, Outrun Coast 2 Coast 2006 gets brought back with Sega game inspired cars, an adventure trek into other dimensions for all the lost Sega Saturn game source codes… no forget that, pay for the best Sega Saturn emulator ever and get all those games onto PC and handhelds, and and and and release an all in one, Sega classic nostalgia console that plays game carts/cd/gd-rom from all the Sega consoles and runs games downloaded to an SD card or harddrive from an online shop. Just all Sega love, all the Sega time.
Oh also I’d buy out a local abandoned mall and turn it into a big arse Sega arcade complete with an in door and out door roller coaster and theme ride named after Knuckles called the Knuckles Knuckles coaster of Knuckles. It’ll play Knuckles theme songs in the waiting line. Those who manage to survive get to ride for free.
Oh and with cybernetic dolphin supported walk ways so they can play Sega games too.
Maybe hire one to be an Ecco mascot, hmm.
A man can dream, a man can dream.
Well everyone I knew at Sega is either in a managerial role or retired so…
I buy the company. Hopefully for nowhere near 1.5 Billion.
Start by selling off Sammy the merger with Sega has made the company exponentially more popular so I hope to make a good profit off of it. I would also move the HQ out of Japan. The Arcades are dead so we need to accept that, they still make a profit in that sector likely by being in bed with Yakuza. They may be turning black money into white money for Yakuza. I can’t have shit going like that. So we sell off all the Arcades Sega owns with the Yakuza, I am sure the Yakuza would be keen on securing their dwellings so they would have to find buyers which they will fund hopefully I can make a huge profit on it. If I don’t, I out the Yakuza. I’ll take the economical hit if I have to. I just hope I don’t die at the hands of a Shinobi hired by the Yakuza,
For the AM teams, I will do the Yuji Naka deal with them. Only they won’t be 90% independent. I’ll give them more starting capital than Yuji Naka got but Sega would retain more than the mere 10% they got at PROPE.
Lastly, I either acquire a successful crowdfunding platform or get a super partnership deal. This step is important in my plan to license all Sega franchises to their intellectual owners so that they can crowd fund their games. I get dividends and no risk.
Hopefully I make a huge profit and launch a pop culture reporting platform and an external PR company that will work with SEGA. Cause internal marketing sucks there. So now I have three seperate mega corps than all benefit and profit mutually.
If it pans out I buy Capcom and apply the same logic.
I think every Sega would be happy. The brand would have integrity.
Pretty much on the same page hehe
