A Remake of Baku Baku is on Kickstarter
If you owned a SEGA console in the 90s, you might remember this fun puzzle block game called Baku Baku. Baku Baku had players line up blocks of various animals and fruit, and when the animal is aligned to their favorite food, the animal eats it! The eaten blocks get sent to your opponent’s side and the person who can’t place any more blocks loses.
Grandes Planos, a Portuguese software company, is looking to revive the series through Kickstarter. Baku Baku Revival is a remake of the original Baku Baku, and it will be updated for a modern audience, including online multiplayer.
Here are the main features of Baku Baku Revival:
-
High definition and colorful 3D graphics, making full use of the latest Unity engine
-
Vibrant animations will make the game thoroughly enjoyable to those who play and to those who watch it being played
-
Deceptively easy gameplay grows in strategy and complexity as you progress the campaign
-
Embrace the global challenge to be the best with multiplayer opponents from across the world
-
Original Soundtrack created by composer Oleg Pliasunov. It’s catchy and youthful themes will run through your mind even when you’re not playing
-
Extremely addictive and fun to play
With 29 days to go, Baku Baku Revival currently has $244 of its $41,623 goal. If you want to contribute to their project, you can click here!

No this as nothing to do with what we are building… we want to give the Fans a proper sequel with online multiplayer…not only just another kind of Baku Baku…
Didn’t they already try this a month or 2 ago?
No is the first Time we are showing what we have been up to…
Ahh okay cool, I loved Baku Baku on the Saturn anyways, i’ve backed 🙂 – there was another Baku kickstarter a couple of months back, which is why I asked 🙂 great looking project!
Glad you liked… with your help and the help of all Fans we can do it.
Are you planning on possibly releasing on the Dreamcast?
Hi James, first of all, we will only finish the game if the campaign is sucessfull. Like i told before our project has nothing to do with other look alike low quality projects that have been launched to the market. We don’t have Dreamcast Development Kits and even if we had, we are making use of high resolution textures, that means this game would not run on the dreamcast without major changes on the Design. We are targeting PC, MAC, Linux, XboxOne, PS4 and Nintendo WiiU, Vita and 3DS for now.
Has the trademark for Baku Baku lapsed? Or might Sega take an interest? I know in some regions the game didn’t have the “Animal” sub-title…
