Zillion Anime gets HD remaster for Blue Ray Box Set


Kyoto Animation and Production I.G. have remastered the Zillion Anime in HD format for a Blue Ray Box Set release on September 25, 2015 in Japan.

Zillion is co-work made in 1987 by SEGA (Fantasy Zone, Out-Run, etc.), Tatsunoko Productions (Gatchaman, Samurai Pizza Cats, Casshern, etc.), and Production I.G. (which was a small division inside Tatsunoko Pro in that time) which spawned a SEGA Mark III title (ported later to Master System) and an anime series which ran from April 12, 1987 to December 13, 1987 on Nippon Television. The anime features other SEGA references such as the SEGA Master System lightgun and Fantasy Zone’s Opa Opa as one of the series characters.

The box set will feature the whole 31 episodes plus an OVA, an artwork booklet, interviews and commentaries, and special print for ¥ 41,040.

Additionaly, a special launch event will be held on Asagaya loft on October 8th, 2015. People will be able to meet the production staff and get some special artwork cards.
