[Updated] Alien: Isolation pre-order content features movie cast

Most of the original cast voiced their characters for Alien: Isolation’s pre-order bonus content.
[UPDATE: We got word from SEGA of America’s media relations team that the Ripley Edition will be exclusive to GAME in the UK. Some smaller countries will only get the Ripley Edition.] [Original Story]

It appears you don’t have to be totally alone on an isolated spaceship in deep space with a hulking, pissed off Alien looking to rip you to shreds in Alien: Isolation.

SEGA announced two pre-order bonus missions today, one you get when pre-ordering the game from any retailer and the other exclusively from GameStop. If you pre-order the game, you’ll get a free upgrade to the “Nostromo Edition,” which includes the “Crew Expendable” bonus mission.

This mission allows you to play as one of “three surviving crewmembers, only moments after Brett’s death at the jaws of the creature. As Ellen Ripley, Dallas or Parker, players can explore the Nostromo from habitation deck down through engineering, coordinating their efforts with Lambert and Ash to lure the Alien into the ship’s airlock,” according to SEGA’s press release.

What’s best is most of the original cast voice acted their characters for the bonus mission. Sigourney Weaver (Ellen Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett) and Yaphet Kotto (Parker) all lent their likeness and voiced their characters, with Ian Holm’s character Ash having a “sound-alike” actor voice his part.

If you pre-order the game at GameStop, you’ll get the “Ripley Edition,” which also contains the Nostromo Edition, plus the “Last Survivor” mission, where “players pick up the story as Ripley tries to escape on the Narcissus. On hearing the screams of Lambert and Parker, players must navigate their way back down through the Nostromo in order to activate the self-destruct sequence, before retracing their steps back to the Narcissus shuttle and their escape.”

“Working with the original cast has been an incredible experience,” said Alistair Hope, Creative Lead on Alien: Isolation. “It was important to us to have the key original cast members reprise their roles in order to perfectly capture the atmosphere of the movie. For some of the original cast, this is their first appearance in an Alien video game. Seeing them reprise those roles after 35 years was an unforgettable experience.”

This actually looks like a lot of fun, and it’s a great incentive to go out there and throw down $5 to pre-order the game. At least it isn’t day one paid DLC, right?
