Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Bundle, Yakuza 3.

We reported about this before, but now we have some photos of the White “Dragon” Yakuza 3 bundle, that is obviously for Japan only. The console is white with a silver dragons, giving it that gangster look that is very popular with todays teenagers!
The bundle is limited to a mere 10,000 units and will set you back a cool ¥45980 ($490 USD). In the box you get the game, 80 gb Playsation 3 and a white Dualshock 3 controller. For importers, the console is region free to play Playstation 3 games, everything else is region blocked (inculding watching Blu-rays). Release date for the bundle (and the game itself) is February 26, so if you want one, start saving!

Toshihiro Nagoshi tells us why he made Yakuza 3 an exclusive
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Development, Yakuza 3.

This generation is going to be known as the multiplatform generation, well to Sony anyway. With games like Devil May Cry 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Virtua Fighter 5, and Tekken 6 going multiplatform, its hard to know why Nagoshi is making his high budget Yakuza 3 game exclusive to the Playstation 3.
According to Nagoshi he wanted people to justify the cost of the high end machine with his games. He also thinks that multiplatform games don’t dig into the consoles characteristics. I really don’t know what that means, I don’t make video games.
He also said he wants to make a new game, with the experience he gained making the Yakuza series. He stated that he would want to do a world wide developed game, but is afraid of putting western gamers ahead of Japanese. Isn’t this the total opposite of 95 percent of Japanese studios now?

Yakuza 3 screens reveal new fishing minigame
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Screenshots, Yakuza 3.

Nothing says Yakuza like fishing with a Hawaiian shirt on and thankfully you will have the ability to do this in Yakuza 3.
Though I find it funny that Kazuma has his fighting face up even when he is fishing. Stupid Kiryu, fishing is suppose to be relaxing!
Continue reading after the jump to see the rest of the screenshots, I’m assuming the ones with the tranny is a sex minigame?

Yakuza 3 gets a long trailer
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with Trailer, Yakuza 3.
This might be too long for some people, eleven minutes long, but it is a good watch for all you Yakuza fans out there. This extended trailer shows off a lot of footage from the game, I think the footage is FMV (not in-game). But I could be wrong.
Unfortunately it is all in Japanese, with a lot of Japanese talk and some writing, so most of us won’t understand what is going on. But we can all enjoy the pretty, moving pictures.

Yakuza 3 gets a PS3 bundle in Japan
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, News, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Bundle, Pre-order, Yakuza 3.

Yakuza 3 is a big title, so you’d expect a bundle. If you’re on the ledge and thinking about getting a PS3 for Yakuza 3, what better way than getting a official Yakuza 3 bundle? Well there will be some problems, first of all it is Japan only and it is going to retail for ¥45,980 (US$492.77).
The bundle comes with a 80gb ceramic white PS3 that has a dragon design on it. Not only that it will be limited to 10,000 units.
Japan also gets a Kamutai magazine as a pre-order bonus, totaling a total of 48 pages showing the nightlife and hostess bars in Kabukicho.
The game and bundle is slated to release on February 26, 2009.

New Yakuza 3 battle system details
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, News, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Yakuza 3.

Some new details on the battle system for the upcoming Yakuza 3 have come to light.
One of the new features is dubbed “Chase Battles.” When you talk to people, they might try to run away. You will have to chase them down, making sure you can either visually see them on screen or on the radar. There will be obstacles in your way, which will keep you on your toes.
The other new addition is tag team battles in the arena mode. This will let you face caged battles with the help of a partner. You can then benefit by using co-op heat moves.

TGS 08: List of upcoming Sega games that will support trophies
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Bayonetta, Sonic Unleashed, TGS 08, Yakuza 3.

Sony does not require new games to be trophy ready or even to support them (as of now), but the following games are trophy ready on release:
- BayonettaÂ
- Sonic Unleashed
- Yakuza 3
Pretty much their whole line up, just not Valkyria Chronicles or Golden Axe: Beast Riders.
Sega doesn’t tend to patch old games with support for this feature, unlike other studios. But is it worth going through the trouble of updating them? I think this feature is better implemented than 360’s achievements, but then again they had years ahead to copy and change. Better being late than never I guess.

TGS 08: Sega dominates Edge’s top 20 games at TGS
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with 7th Dragon, Bleach: Versus Crusade, Infinite Space, Let's Tap, Phantasy Star 0, Phantasy Star Zero, Sonic Unleashed, TGS 08, Yakuza 3.

Sega came into TGS to do one thing, kick ass. If you see their line up, its a pretty beefy , Edge even agrees. They posted a list of the top 20 games at TGS and Sega had more games on the list than any other publisher. When was the last time you saw so many Sega games make a list?
Here are the games that made the list (only Sega games posted):
- 20. Seventh Dragon
- 19. Infinite Space
- 14. Phantasy Star 0
- 12. Sonic UnleashedÂ
- 10. Let’s TapÂ
- 05. Bleach Versus Crusade
- 02. Yakuza 3
- Â [full list!]
Surprises? Mine was that Bleach: Versus Crusade broke into the top 5 and that Bayonetta wasn’t mentioned. I can see Yakuza 3 getting second to Resident Evil 5, due to the fact that Resident Evil 5 playable. What do you guys think?
TGS 08: 20 minutes of Yakuza 3 footage
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with Gameplay, TGS 08, Trailer, Yakuza 3.
At last years TGS Sega had a special extended preview of Kenzan! (remeber the Yakuza prequel everyone was calling Yakuza 3?), which gave the audience there a good 10 minute (or so) preview of what to expect from the upcoming game. Well this year is no different, except the lucky audience received a 20 minute preview of Yakuza 3. Lucky bastards!
Though someone was kind enough to record the preview, and with the wonders of the Internet, we can all enjoy it.  Lucky us!
Unfortunately, the whole thing is in Japanese, with Japanese writing. So I doubt many of you can understand what’s going on fully. But anyone who has played Yakuza 1 and 2, will likely find the video interesting.  Not only do most of the original cast appear, but there is also a bit of a surprise/spoiler - so if you don’t want to ruin the game’s story too much, perhaps best not to watch it.
TGS 08: Yakuza 3 gameplay trailer
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with Gameplay, TGS 08, Trailer, Yakuza 3.
I have been waiting for some gameplay footage for this title since it was revealed. The third title is shaping up to deliver what it promised, to be the biggest and best game in the series. We even see the player controlled camera, adds a bigger wow factor to the game.
The game also shows off some of its other features, including mini games and fighting scenes. I think this game is shaping up very nicely.
