New portable Dreamcast the DreamTrooper

A guy called Hailrazer, over at the Benheck forums, has constructed a pretty cool handheld Dreamcast. There are a few fan-made portable Dreamcasts knocking around these days, but it is always a joy to see new ones coming around.
Halrazer’s Dreamcast, called the DreamTrooper, as the casing resembles a Storm Trooper’s helmet from Star Wars, is certainly one of the better made portable Dreamcasts.
The device was cobbled together using the shell of something called a “Lazer Doodle” (no idea what that is, I guess it’s an American toy), the LCD screen off a PS1 portable, a Quantum Fighter pad for the controls and some expensive rechargeable batteries.
The DreamTrooper is not 100% complete just yet, but it is in full working order and appears to have built-in memory. On the Benheck forums, before he made the device, he mentions the idea of an in-built VMU, but the video doesn’t specify if he has, or where it is. But when he loads Sonic Adventure 2, it looks like he has a few saved files there already.
Yet another Dreamcast portable

Sure, if you had the time, money and expertise, you might be able to make a beautiful portable Dreamcast like this. But if you’re a gamer on a budget, it might look more like the Dreamcast in the above video. Either way, both are pretty damn cool, and I wouldn’t kick either one of them outta bed.
Unfortunately, the video uploader didn’t provide very many details on what went into making this Dreamcast, so we have to guess that he cannibalized parts from an old portable UHF TV.

Brazilian-based company, Tec Toys, are adding another Sega device to their list, a portable Mega Drive. Unfortunately not quite as cool as the Nomad- the real handheld Mega Drive, from Sega.Â
This ‘Portable Mega Drive,’ does not take Mega Drive/Genesis cartridges, instead, like so many other similar handhelds, has several built in games.
Some 20 games to be precise:Â
- Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
- Alien Storm
- Altered Beast
- Arrow Flash
- Columns III
- Crack Down
- Decap Attack
- Dr. Robotnik´s Mean Bean Machine
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Ecco Jr.
- E-SWAT: Cyber Police City Under Siege
- Flicky
- Gain GroundÂ
- Golden AxeÂ
- Jewel Master
- Kid ChameleonÂ
- RistarÂ
- Sonic and Knuckles
- Shadow Dancer – The Secret of Shinobi
- The Revenge of Shinobi
