Shining Force is April’s SEGA Nerds Game of the Month

We’re in the mood to play some classic SEGA games and want to talk about them with you! We’re bringing back the SEGA Nerds Game of the Month Club!

Basically, the way the Game of the Month Club works is we choose a game, play it together and talk about it throughout the month on the SEGA Nerds forums. It’s a month-long discussion, so we encourage you to participate in the discussion thread as often as possible as you experience the game.

As the month comes to a close, we’ll publish an in-depth retrospective about the game and also have a featured discussion about it on the SEGA Nerdcast, where we’ll read some of the best forum posts on air.

This month, we’re playing the original Shining Force: The Legacy of the Great Intention, which was released on the SEGA Genesis in 1993 and is one of SEGA’s most beloved RPG franchises. If you want to get extra fancy, you can play the Gameboy Advance remake Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, which features an expanded story and better localization than its Genesis counterpart.

What’s best is Shining Force has been ported to many platforms and is very inexpensive today. If you don’t have the original Genesis version, no sweat! Here are some cheap and easy options to play the game:

Steam for $2.99
– Amazon for $2.99
– iOS for $.99
SEGA Smash Pack 2
Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection

To up the ante, we will give away a complete-in-box copy of the original Genesis version of Shining Force at the end of the month! To be eligible to win, you must participate in the forum discussion at least once with a thoughtful, meaningful post that’s relevant to the ongoing conversation.
