Valkyria Chronicles demo invading Europe soon
Posted by Graham. Filed under Europe, G, News, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Valkyria Chronicles.

In just over a week, Sega will be blessing PS3 owners, across Europe, with a demo of Valkyria Chronicles.
The excellent PS3 title will be hitting the European Playstation 3’s online store October 9th. So far there is no word of a US release, but no doubt Sega America will release a demo soon enough.
Let’s hope that Sega makes sure the demo is good fun, and encourages people to buy the game. While we haven’t played through the full game, we have had a decent amount of hands-on time with a near-complete build, and this is one game that just needs to be played… and loved!

What with hosting a special Valkyria Chronicles press event a few days ago (unfortunately we couldn’t make it), Sega America has also released a new gameplay video, which helps to detail some of the actions and in-game movements from the PS3 title.
Anybody who has read our in-depth hands on, the other day, may want to take a look at this video - as it should definitely help to visualise some of the game’s details which we covered.

Valkyria Chronicles: In-depth, hands-on preview

We were fortunate enough to get our hands on the Japanese version of the soon-to-be-released Valkyria Chronicles a while back, but since it didn’t have English subtitles, you can imagine the difficulty we had trying to understand anything going on.
Fortunately for us, and for you, Sega of Europe recently invited us to come to their offices for an extended gaming session of the English version.
Rather than focus too much on the gameplay aspects, which we have covered previously, and you can find out on any of the Japanese reviews, we are going to delve into some of the finer aspects of the game.
Valkyria Chronicles pre-release event this Friday for San Franciscans
Posted by Nathan. Filed under Nathan, News, North America, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Valkyria Chronicles.
Lucky residents of San Francisco, California have the opportunity to meet Ryutaro Nonaka, Valkyria Chronicles‘ producer, as well as get to try the game out this Friday. Not only that, but there will be raffle prizes and possibly a (female) cosplayer. Excuse me while I smolder with righteous jealousy all the way over here in Texas.
If you happen to live in the San Francisco area and this kind of event sounds appealing to you, the detailed information is right here for your convenience:
9/26 (Fri) 5:00-9:00PM
PlayStation Store at the Metreon
101 4th St, San Francisco, CA
For everyone else in the world, you have the chance to ask Nonaka-san some questions about the game on the official PlayStation blog. Just post your question in the comments section of that page and he might read it. Hell, he might even ignore it!
Valkyria Chronicles is set for a November 11, 2008 North American release exclusively on the PlayStation 3.

Sega has certainly shown us some good things with Valkyria Chronicles. The playstation exclusive has been out in Japan for several months now, but the western version is due out this November, and it looks as good as ever.
As well as a new trailer (above) and information on the game, Sega has sent out some new screenshots, plus the boxart for the game. Check it out after the break.
E3 2008: Valkyrie Chronicles, screens, details and Sony being stupid

This is still one of the most anticipated games among us Sega Nerds. Valkyria Chronicles is possibly one of the few games out there that will make me want to buy a PS3. The unique graphical style, and solid gameplay makes it into the “must have” title that it is.
However, Sony has caused some confusion recently, when the game’s title appeared on a list of upcoming PSP games. And then, at E3 Sony showcased a video in which you saw Valkyria Chronicles running on the PSP! - Which we reported on the other day.
The company has already denied the rumours, and it seems that Sega bosses are none too happy - as Kotaku reports:
“Chalk its appearance at Sony’s E3 media briefing up to a massive blunder on Sony’s part. Sega president Simon Jeffery sounded none too pleased about the flub when we talked to him earlier today and hinted that Sony was on the receiving of serious tongue-lashing from the publisher. Oops!”
I’m not sure if this is some Sony rep being a total cretin, or perhaps just being overally ambitious. Though it is strange that the video shown was clearly of a PSP, with Valkyria Chronicles (supposedly) running on it.
Well, whatever the case, Sega has published some real screens, and details of the game, which you can find after the break.
E3 rumors: Valkyria Chronicles heads to PSP?

Buh?
While there was some confusion before the show as to whether a listing of Valkyria Chronicles for the PSP was official or merely a mistake, a new video over at GameVideos.com seemed to have confirmed the former to be true.
However, it Sega has now categorically denied that the game will be coming to the PSP, and will stay a PS3 exclusive. I guess you can always play it through the PSP if you’ve got both.
How could you tease us like this, Sega? It’s cruel, that’s what it is.

UPDATE: According to GameTrailers, this was a mistake and the game was just being shown on the wrong screen. There is no PSP version of the game planned, and PS3 games have to be specifically designed to allow for PSP remote play, which Valkyria Chronicles has so far not been confirmed to feature.
Sega plans Valkyria Chronicles add-on content

Sega has announced that starting in August they’ll be offering downloads for Valkyria Chronicles via the Japanese Playstation Network.
Senjou No Valkyria, as the title is known in the east, will be bolstered by a total of three updates - the first being simply a download that will allow for the implementation of further downloads.
Immediately following this, however, players will have the ability to purchase and use two additional add-ons: “Hard EX Mode”, and “Edie Buntai Daisakusen”.
The first of these two is a new mode to be used in the game’s free battle arena, in which the difficulty has been amped up considerably. The second is a new episode featuring Edie, a support character from the story mode, complete with full vocal work, story elements, and skirmishes.
The paid content will cost 300 and 600 Yen, respectively.
Valkyria Chronicles is scheduled for a September release in the western regions.

SGD08: Valkyria Chronicles preview
Posted by George. Filed under George, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with event, SGD08, Valkyria Chronicles.
I’ve been eagerly anticipating Valkyria Chronicles. I couldn’t wait for a chance to play it in English. I mean, I can’t import it… I don’t know how to speak or write Japanese! Sega thought it would be funny to make me mad. They showed off the retail Japanese version at the event. The worst part is they didn’t let us play it.
However, I learned a lot at about the game! For example, I learned that I must have this game when it comes out.
SGD08: Valkyria Chronicles features Japanese and English voices
Posted by George. Filed under George, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with event, SGD08, Valkyria Chronicles.

Good news for all Sega Nerds out there: Valkyria Chronicles will feature both the English dub tracks and Japanese voice tracks in one package, which should appease everyone. Kudos to Sega for this!
I hope we won’t hear anything about bad voice work, since now you can always switch it to the Japanese voices (or maybe English depending)! In the end, everyone wins.
Check back soon for a full preview of Valkyria Chronicles!
