Sega Deals: Universe at War really cheap at Amazon
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Microsoft Xbox 360, North America, PC. Tagged with Sega Deals, Universe at War.
Everyone’s favorite online retailer, Amazon, has just drastically reduced the price for the 360 and PC versions of Universe at War: Earth Assault. The 360 version is currently at $21.86, and the PC is a low $12.68 - that’s absolutely sick, and there’s no good reason why you shouldn’t get this game if you don’t already own it.
We gave the game an 8.5, and here’s what Ryan thought of the game:
In the end, Universe at War is a great game with some small setbacks, that don’t ruin the game but hold it back from being truly brilliant. I hope the game gets a sequels and the developers work on fixing up the small issues.
See there? It’s not every day you can get such a good game for so cheap. Hurry up and buy!

Get a free faceplate with Universe at War pre-order

Believe it or not, I kinda feel sorry for the Xbox 360 version of Universe at War: Earth Assault. The PC version literally released months ago, and now that the console version is finally nearing its birth, it seems no one is talking about it anymore.
However, Sega’s hoping to change that by offering a free Xbox 360 faceplate with every pre-order of the game through GameStop.com and in-store at GameCrazy.
That’s right, Europeans, you’re out of this deal for the time being. Who knows, though, maybe Sega will throw in some instant tea when it comes your way.

It’s true, we’ve seen plenty of videos for Universe at War by now. Heck, we’ve even gone to Petroglyph’s offices to play the game first hand, but would you believe this is the first official gameplay video for the Xbox 360 version?
This video focuses on the Hierarchy, so we’re pretty sure Sega will be releasing new videos for the other factions pretty soon.

For those of you who don’t know (which would be most people outside the UK), GAME is the UK’s leading video games store.Â
Just like any typical gaming store, they cater for all areas of gaming, including Sega Nerds now, it seems.
On the home page to the GAME website, (at the time of writing this), there is a clear icon down the right hand column, which leads to a Sega specific area - shown in screendump below.
Review: Universe at War: Earth Assault (PC)
Posted by Ryan. Filed under PC, Review, Ryan. Tagged with Universe at War.
When Sega and Petroglyph games announced they were going to be making a real time strategy game together I must say I was very excited. Knowing full well the main developers within Petroglyph are Ex-Westwood studios, who (of course) worked on the original Command and Conquer games, which was one of my favourite PC game series growing up. So, did they deliver the game I was hoping for, or did they fall short of their previous greatness?
Sega confirms UK release dates

Sega has set out several release dates for upcoming games, in Q1 2008.
On the cards is NiGHTS Journey of Dreams, for the Wii (Finally!). Which is now set for a January 18th release, although several online stores, including GAME, still date it for release on the 25th. Also set for January 18th is Ghost Squad.
Yet Universe at War: Earth Assualt, has been pushed forward slightly, to a January 25th release, which is actually in place of PSU expansion, Ambition of Illuminus (originally scheduled for 25th), which is now confirmed for a week later.
Released on Febuary 8th, we should see the highly anticipated The Club, plus the DS version of Mario and Sonic Olympics.
Bad news is that Condemned 2: Bloodshot, has been pushed back by two weeks, originally set for a Febuary release, it is now due on March 14th. Also the game has undergone a slight name change, and the subtitle, “Bloodshot,” has been removed.
PS2 and Wii racer Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity follows on the 22nd, and February 28th sees Bleach hit Wii and DS.
Dated for March 28th, we have Viking Battle for Asgard, and also Sega SuperStars Tennis.

Sega releases Universe at War and The Golden Compass
Posted by Nathan. Filed under Microsoft Xbox 360, Nathan, News, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, North America, PC, Sony PSP, Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Golden Compass, Universe at War.

It’s another good week to be a Sega fan, as Sega released two new titles: The long-delayed and much-anticipated Universe at War: Earth Assault, and the not-so-anticipated movie tie-in The Golden Compass.
All RTS fans should do themselves a favor and check out Universe at War on Windows via whatever method they have to: Buy a disc in retail stores, download it straight to your hard drive through Steam, or sacrifice the souls of 10 neighborhood dogs to the demon Beelzebub in trade for delicious strategy goodness.
The Golden Compass, based on the movie, based on the book, is obviously nothing more than a cash cow. Quite appropriate, considering the movie stars real-life cow Nicole Kidman! All serious Sega fans should buy at least one copy immediately. Hell, I’m buying it on all seven available platforms. Twice.
Nathan shows up in Universe at War video

Â
You might remember a few months back when our own Nathan Tsui had the opportunity to travel down to the Petroglyph studios to play an early build of Universe at War. During his time there, Nathan was interviewed about his experience and now the video has popped up on the internet.
It’s not quite as exciting as a Paris Hilton home video, but it’s pretty good, nevertheless.
Universe at War (PC) demo
Posted by Ryan. Filed under PC, Ryan. Tagged with Universe at War.
Hey boys and girls, I have some good news for you! Starting today, you can download the demo of Sega and Petroglyph’s innovative new real time strategy (RTS) game Universe at War: Earth Assault!
In Universe at War you will take control of one the three warring alien factions, who have brought their galactic war to little old Earth, and the human race is pretty much screwed!
The game is really pushing this genre forward with some great new ideas, and three factions that play very different from each other, creating a breath of fresh air in this genre.
This demo includes a tutorial and the first two missions of the Hierarchy faction’s campaign. The Hierarchy are a big brutish alien race that stomp massive walkers right into the enemy’s base.
Whether you’re a big fan of RTS games or not, I hope you will try this demo. It’s completely free to download and I don’t think you will be disappointed. I was lucky enough to get into the beta (a perk of the Sega Nerds job), and although Games for Windows was giving me some hassle, I got some good game time in and what I played was very fun indeed.
Universe at War only delayed in Europe
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Europe, News, PC. Tagged with Universe at War.
There was some news that spread across the internet last week that Universe at War: Earth Assault had been delayed until next year. However, that’s only partly true.
We were told by our Sega rep that the game will, in fact, be delayed in Europe, but it will still ship on time in every other region later this month or early November. Hopefully, that will clear up any confusion.
