Rumour: Aliens: Colonial Marines was in production for the DS?

According to Destructoid (and some guy that tipped them off) Aliens: Colonial Marines might have been in production for the Nintendo DS as well as the Xbox 360, PC and PS3. The game was being developed by WayForward in association with Gearbox and supposedly published by Sega. However this is the first any of us have heard about a DS version in the works.
The above video is apparently a gameplay trailer for the game and as you can see that the DS version was a side scrolling shooter, similar to Aliens 3 on the Mega Drive.
But his is all past tense, because apparently the game was scrapped due to some financial issues at Sega, even though it is rumoured that the game was actually finished.
To be honest I’m not sure what to think on this rumour. I wouldn’t put it past Sega/Gearbox to make a DS alternative for the upcoming FPS. But it seems a bit weird that Sega would have totally scrapped the game if it was finished and also even weirder that they hadn’t even announced it. Also not sure if the music in the trailer was added by the guy who uploaded it, or if Sega would use a signed artist to promote their game (they don’t usually).
What do you think though? Does this look like a lost gem, or just another DS game not to care about?

[Updated] Takao Miyoshi’s unannounced game update
Posted by George. Filed under George, Japan. Tagged with new info, Takao Miyoshi, unannounced, update.

We are Sega Nerds and knowing us we will try to figure out every bit of information on unannounced games. We did it with 7th Dragon and by Yu Suzuki’s good name we will do it with this one.
We haven’t found much really, but the site has had some updates now. First of all some of the letters have links to other Sega games. The U in ‘Produce’ is red and is linked to some Japanese learning game for the Nintendo DS, the T in ‘Takao’ takes you to the Let’s Tap website and finally the C in ‘Coming’ takes you to the Let’s Catch site.
That is not all though, if you hover over the mushroom it makes an 8-bit sound. People have been saying it sounds like Mario’s 1up sound and it sorta does. Let the speculation begin!
[Update] Check out the CERO B (the Japanese equivalent to ESRB) rating, they rated the unannounced title for ages 12 and up. Apparently the game contains sexuality and violence. So I don’t think this game is going to be Mario or Sonic related, unless this is Sega’s way of announcing Sonic and the Black Knight in Japan? - Thanks TRAViS
Now if you click the P in ‘Produce’ you get a new tune, I don’t know what the tune is from but sounds familiar.
