Review: Space Siege
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, PC, Review. Tagged with Gas Powered Games, RPG, Space Siege.

Now, I’m not a massive PC gamer, as a result you will have to forgive me for never playing the original Dungeon Siege game.
One other problem I had with the game was that (apparently) my computer was unable to handle the game properly. Even though the specs of my computer outstripped the ‘Recommended Specs’ (not by much - but was still better) I found that I had to run the game in a windowed view and with all the settings on low. The only thing that might have held me back was my graphics card, although (on paper) it should have been perfectly acceptable.
The main issue here is that I will be unable to judge the game’s graphics as Gas Powered Games intended them to look. But, after the adjusting, the game ran smoothly enough so I can talk about how it plays and whether it is good or not.
Beijing fever hits the stores, boosting Sega’s sales

Well it was pretty inevitable, with the Beijing Olympics being a pretty big success, Olympic fever has hit the gaming shelves, putting Sega’s sales in some pretty respectable positions in the charts.
Three new Sega games on Steam

Three “new” Sega titles have been released on Steam, the popular digital distribution service for PC games. The titles are Space Siege ($49.99), The Incredible Hulk: The Official Video Game ($29.99) and Beijing 2008 - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games ($29.99). OH BOY!!
That’s about all there is to say about that, since I haven’t played any of these games, and at those prices I probably won’t any time soon. I got more important things to buy. Like hamburgers. Burgin’.

Official Space Siege interview & demo released
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Interviews, News, PC, Video. Tagged with Gas Powered Games, Space Siege.
Sega has posted up a new interview with the CEO and founder of Gas Powered Games, (not to mention the creator of Dungeon Siege), Chris Taylor, talking about their upcoming game, Space Siege.
While I’m pretty interested in the game, the interview certainly feels a little… relaxed, which I’m worried will put some people off the game. But, beyond the slightly ’stoned’ feeling I get from watching it, I can see some potential good, and the game seems to be shaping up rather nicely.
And for those of you who want to give the game a test drive before it’s release then Gamershell are the ones to ask - as they have put up a new demo for the game.

E3 2008: Space Siege

Another game that has been receiving mixed emotions is Space Siege, by Gas Powered Games. The last isometric shooter-style game that Sega published, Alien Syndrome (Wii and PSP), did not go down too well with Sega fans or critics. So it’s not a surprise that some people might be worried.
However Space Siege is a spiritual sequel to the popular Dungeon Siege and is being handled by the same company, so all should be good - we hope. The game certainly looks and sounds better than Alien Syndrome - with a deeper gameplay style, and RPG elements.
Anyway, it’s good to see some new screens and details on the game.

Sega shows new Space Siege trailer
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Video. Tagged with Space Siege.
It was only about 2 weeks ago that we were able to show you a new Space Siege trailer. Well Sega clearly weren’t content with that one, and have let loose another for us to enjoy.
The last one showed off a lot of shooting, and made the game look like almost every other generic ‘isometric shooter,’ but it’s all change with this latest one. We do see some clips and images that have previously been shown, but this video concentrates far more on some of the damn cool melee fighting that happens in the game.
Personally my opinion/anticipation for this game has been going up and down more often than Amy Winehouse has been in and out of rehab. When I first heard the details on the game I couldn’t be more excited, but then I saw some screenshots and videos and felt let down.
I have never really enjoyed the isometric-style shooter much (bar Skeleton Crew and Crusader: No Remorse) and I wasn’t especially into the original Dungeon Siege (of which this is a quasi-sequel), so I became wary of the game. But this new video has lifted my hopes up dramatically! Some of the action in the game looks really good, especially the aforementioned melee fighting. Plus the story sounds great (well you know, great for a sci-fi game).
Here’s hoping the game lives up to expectations. Still the most important thing to remember here is that, when it all boils to do it, the only thing Amy Winehouse is better than me at is buying and taking drugs.
Sega unleashes Space Siege theatrical trailer

Sega has just released a new theatrical trailer for Gas Powered Games’ new action-RPG Space Siege. Blown away? Nope, but it does look like it may be a fun game. To be honest, Sega soured me on its action-RPGs when it tainted the world with Alien Syndrome - geez was that a bad, bad game.
However, Gas Powered Games should definitely offer a better experience, and Space Siege certainly looks a lot better than Alien Syndrome. What do you think?

Sega reveals new Space Siege website

~This trailer was shown at E3, but I put it in anyway because I didn’t like any of the images on the new site~
Surely you can all remember the upcoming RPG for the PC, Space Siege? No? We told you about it a few months ago.
For those who can’t recall, Space Siege is to be a sort of sequel to the popular Dungeon Siege game, from 2002. The new game, developed by Gas Powered Games and published by Sega, is going to be set in the future (2199 to be exact), where humans have left Earth to explore new worlds…
They find a new planet, which appears to be a paradise, but (uh-oh) an alien species known as the “Kerak” attack the new colonies on the planet, and then continue to wipe out all other human settlements, and then head to Earth. The Kerak wipe out most of the escaping ships and destroy Earth (pretty harsh, I know), but one ship, the Armstrong, manages to escape.
However, before escaping the destruction of Earth, the ship is boarded by the Kerak. Now it is up to you (the player) to fend off the attacking aliens and protect the only remaining humans from being slaughtered.
Despite being a fairly typical sci-fi type plot, the game does seem to be coming along pretty well, and the official website is slowly showing off more and more about the game, including: Plot info, screenshots, wallpapers, movies… Pretty much anything you should expect from an official game site.

Space Siege trailer released
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, PC, Video. Tagged with Space Siege.
Sega and GasPowered games, have recently released a trailer for their upcoming RPG, Space Siege.
The game is meant to be a, sort of, ’sequel’ to the classic pc game, Dungeon Siege. However, rather than the old setting of the original, GasPowered games have decided to place the players in the future, in space (hence the game title…).
It’s up to you, as Seth Walker (the main character), to pretty much take on an entire alien race, the ‘Karak’, as they bid to destroy all human life on Earth.
The game is not due out until 2008, for the PC. Until then, enjoy the video!

Space Siege details, screens revealed

Now that we finally know about Gas Powered Games‘ and Sega’s new RPG, Space Siege, it’s time that we now see what the game’s going to look like and find out a bit more about the story.
It goes a bit like this: Aliens attack Earth (Has that ever happened before?), but five colony ships attempt to evacuate as many people as possible. However, only one of the five colony ships, the Armstrong, escapes intact before Earth is completely obliterated by the aliens, according to a Sega fact sheet.
In the game, you’ll control Seth Walker (cool name, eh?), who is a combat engineer on the Armstrong. You must protect the human race from utter destruction from the mean ol’ aliens and along the way must choose if you’ll sacrifice your “humanity to save the human race.”
You may be asking what the hell that means. Well, you can stay entirely human throughout the game or enhance your body with cybernetic technology, giving Seth different skills and abilities an ordinary human could never have.
Kinda like in Phantasy Star Online, you’ll get a robot companion, named HR-V (Thankfully, not HIV). HR-V’s armor, weapons and special equipment can be upgraded throughout your travels, and it can help you out in battle by attacking, defending or performing special combo attacks with Seth.
The game also features up to four player mission-based multiplayer. These missions are specially designed for the online portion. The game allows you to customize the enemy’s difficulty and toughness.
Space Siege will launch on the PC in 2008. Fo shit!
