First Sonic Unleashed review from British newspaper
Posted by Hudson. Filed under Europe, Hudson, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, Sonic. Tagged with Sonic Unleashed.

In a strange, strange, extraordinarily strange reversal of coverage trends, the first Sonic Unleashed review to hit the ‘net comes to us from Tom Higgins at Telegraph.co.uk- the Web site for one of Britain’s national newspapers, The Daily Telegraph.
That’s right. A newspaper beat 1up, IGN, and all the other games journalism giants to the punch. What’s more, it’s a review of the Sonic Team-developed Xbox 360 version that’s not due for release until Nov. 28 in Europe.
Most impressive of all? It’s well organized, insightful and gives plenty of context to demonstrate that Mr. Higgins knows damn well what he’s talking about.
So go on, give it a read! As you might expect, it sounds like Sonic Team still can’t leave a good core concept well enough alone.

Swastika spotted in Sonic Unleashed?
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Holoska, Sonic Unleashed, Swastika.
German-based website, Sega Portal, has spotted something rather controversial in the Holoska level of Sonic Unleashed, a Swastika!
Even though the symbol in the picture is a little blurry (click for full size), it’s hard to deny that it looks remarkably like the symbol.
But, before everyone goes off raving about “Nazi’s” and “World War II,” you have to remember that the Swastika has been used for nearly 3,000 years in hundreds of cultures across the world, and the symbol has many different meanings, including; life, sun, power, strength, welfare, prosperity and good luck.
The Nazi party was not the first group of people to use the symbol, nor were they the first group to use the symbol in Europe, (depsite what some might think).
Sonic Unleashed: Wii and PS2 versions have less levels
Posted by George. Filed under George, Microsoft Xbox 360, Multi-platform, Nintendo Wii, North America, Sonic, Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with getting screwed, short changed, Sonic Unleashed.

A recent scan of Sonic Unleashed‘’s strategy guide for the Wii and PS2 shows us that these versions of the game won’t be getting two levels included in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Those two levels are Empire City and Mazuri.
Check out the content listed from the strategy guide below, though I swear I have read about this a few months ago. Am I imagining things?

Whats better than getting free shipping for a online purchase? Getting some money back! You can now pre-order the upcoming Sonic Unleashed, get free shipping and five dollars to top it off.
If you haven’t checked, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions are listed at 49.99. If you subtract the five dollars, you will only have to pay about 45 bucks. Not a bad deal for a new game.

[Update] Three new Sonic Unleashed trailers
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, Nintendo Wii, Sonic, Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with Empire City, Holoska, Sonic Unleashed, Trailer, Werehog.
Whilst browsing Youtube (at 2:30am), I randomly stumbled upon two three new Sonic Unleashed trailers that Sega America and Sega Europe have just uploaded.
The first (above) is a level from the Wii version of the game, Holoska. Now this is actually the first Unleashed trailer that has made me really sit up and pay attention. From the looks of this lovely ice level Sonic Unleashed might actually be more appealing (to me) than I first thought.
Sega confirms no delay for Western versions of Sonic Unleashed
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, Multi-platform, News, Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with delay, Sonic Unleashed.
You might recall a few days ago we reported that the Japanese 360 and PS3 versions of Sonic Unleashed were to be delayed until Spring 2009. Reports had suggested that the delay was due to technical concerns and they wanted to “improve the quality of the game.”
Questions were raised about whether the game would also be delayed in Europe and America too? And if the Western versions were not delayed, would that mean that Western gamers would not be able to experience the “improvements” made to the Japanese version?
Well Sega has responded to the concerns:
“To Sonic fans living outside Japan: Previously we informed you that the release date of Sonic World Adventure (Sonic Unleashed) in Japan on PS3 and 360 will be delayed.
Based on that announcement, some fans living overseas have become concerned that there will be a difference in quality between the version of the game released in Japan and the version released outside of Japan. This is not the case and we apologise for this misunderstanding.
Rumour: Sonic Unleashed to feature downloadable content?
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, Multi-platform, News. Tagged with Rumour, Sonic Unleashed.

According to the guys over at TheSonicStadium, Sonic Unleashed will feature downloadable content. The news came about when they stumbled across an image showing the back cover of the Xbox 360 version, on the Woolworths website.
Now, it’s not that I don’t trust TSS, (because I do trust them), but I have put this down as a rumour for now for a couple of reasons.
Sonic Unleashed delayed in Japan
Posted by Hudson. Filed under Japan, Microsoft Xbox 360, Multi-platform, News, Nintendo Wii, Sonic, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with delay, Sonic Unleashed.

According to the fantastically German gaming news site gamefront.de, Sega has announced that Sonic Unleashed has been delayed for the Xbox 360 and PS3 until Spring of 2009 in Japan. Whether this applies to release dates in other regions hasn’t been announced, but a trusty Google translation of the news blurb reads:
The more time the developers want to improve the quality of the game advantage.
The Wii version of the game, developed by Dimps, is still slated for release on December 18 in Japan. No word on the PS2 version, which will not see release in Japan. Expect announcements about the game’s scheduled drop date to materialize from Sega’s other branches soon, so stay tuned, Sega Nerds!
If this holds true for all regions, it may mark a significant departure from Sega’s habit of pushing games out the door early to capitalize on the holiday rush.

Dr. Robotnik still plays his Dreamcast
Posted by George. Filed under George, Microsoft Xbox 360, Multi-platform, News, Nintendo Wii, Sonic, Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Dr. Robotnik, Dreamcast, Sonic Unleashed.

Do you see it? It’s the Dreamcast, and it’s a good sign that Sonic Team hasn’t forgotten the white machine. We haven’t either!
The screen is from the upcoming Sonic Unleashed, and I have to say it’s looking better and better.

Sega reveals Night of the Werehog
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Sonic, Video. Tagged with Night of the Werehog, Short Film, Sonic Unleashed, Teaser, Trailer.
Above is a rather intruiging teaser for Sonic: Night of the Werehog. No this isn’t a new game, it is in fact a short CGI movie that is due to be released this November, to coincide with Sonic Unleashed’s launch window.
The teaser states “Full Movie Coming November 2008″ but it has been confirmed by Sega that “Full Movie” might not be totally accurate, rather a “Full Short Movie” is coming - but saying that sounds kind of silly.
The movie is said to be between 10-15 mins long (so very short), and I would assume that it will be shown online, though Sega has not confirmed this.
