Retro-review: Shadow the Hedgehog

Being a Sega Nerd hasn’t been exactly easy over the past decade. It seems Sega has done just as much, if not more, to hurt itself than it has to better the company that once dominated the video game industry alongside Nintendo. Perhaps the company’s most embarrassing moment was when it unleashed Shadow the Hedgehog upon the gaming masses in November 2005.
Unofficially, that was the day the Sonic franchise reached rock bottom, but no one can deny that Shadow the Hedgehog officially sucked. Well, many Sega Nerds probably saved themselves the punishment and skipped this mockery of their beloved franchise, and God bless them for having the wisdom to do so.
However, there are those of us who, for reasons even unbeknownst to ourselves, enjoy tormenting ourselves with unspeakable horrors. We, the unfortunate souls who have actually played Shadow the Hedgehog through to the bitter end, have been to the farthest reaches of hell and came back to tell the tale. After recently experiencing this spawn of Satan, I can attest that this game is even worse than you can imagine.
