ITAMI USA announced that it will start selling Sega Body Trainer in the USA under the name Fitrainer. It’s a headset that tells you how you should exercise to get the best results.
Apparently the gadget uses the Karvonen Method to know your ideal “Training Heart Rate” (THR). The system was developed with the help of IPA and is recommended by the American College of Sports Medicine.
Sega Toys to release mini juke box

Sega Toys has announced that they are going to release the “Home Juke Box” this October.
The juke box has fully functioning disc changer (with tiny little vinyls), funky glowing lights, 20 pre-loaded ’golden oldie’ tracks, plus the ability to load more songs via the SD Card slot. Users operate the device by inserting (100 Yen) coins into it, like a real juke box.
But I have to say, that is one of the worst adverts I have ever seen… for anything. Ever.
Check after the break for more specifications and the Home Juke Box track list.
Sega Toys jump on the music game craze with LIVEDREAM
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Video. Tagged with Gadgets, Sega Toys.
Ok so this is not game, but I’d say that this little gizmo has been influenced by the success of Rockband and Guitar Hero.
LIVEDREAM is a pretty cool miniture band set, which plays real songs. But the cool twist is that users can remove or place the different instruments on the stage, and the music will keep playing - but the sound of the specific instrument will either stop or start playing, which is pretty cool.
LIVEDREAM comes in two forms, “Rockband” and “Jazzband” - each band plays 30 real life tunes, and I have to say, there are some real classics listed there.
For the full track listing, check after the break.
Is that a fish in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see me?

The latest gadget in Sega Toys’ long production line, could bring some of us flashing back to the 90’s Tamagotchi craze, with this new virtual pet.
The Sega Toys “Palm Aquarium Aquarium” (possibly just “Palm Aquarium,” but that’s how it translated), offers you the choice of either an Angelfish or a Dolphin virtual pet. But unlike the old LCD virtual pets of the last decade, this one looks a tad more advanced.Â

Our favourite makers of electronic toys/gizmos, Sega Toys, has released a new MP3 player to the Japanese market.
The Soundcarrier Party comes in two colours; white and pink, and Sega Toys is marketing the device specifically for females, 8 years and up.
More Sega Toys robotic antics, with the Dream Dog DX
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News. Tagged with Sega Toys.
As if last week wasn’t enough, when we brought you information on four separate gadgets from Sega Toys, there is yet another toy to keep you entertained. Unlike the Homestar gadgets or the robots we reported on, this one is more for the kids.
The “Dream Dog DX: Golden Retriever” was shown at the Tokyo Toy show recently, and is the latest robo-pet to hit the market.
This cuddly device is said to respond to voice commands. You can order it to do such things as; sit, roll-over, bark and apparently will also try to nip your fingers - so be careful!
Of course there is always a draw-back, the costly price of 34,250Yen, (incl. tax), or approximately - £162/$320. However, it seems another Japanese site is selling it at a discounted price of 29,800Yen.
While the price is fairly high for a “toy” dog, you have to remember it is a robotic dog - and also cheaper than buying a real dog! I know real dogs are more fun, and you can love them more, but this would be perfect for people with a flat, or an annoying kid who desperately wants a pet - but you know will get bored after a few months. At least with this if they get bored, all you need do is take the batteries out and put it in a cupboard.
The Dream Dog DX will be released this September 26th in Japan, no word of a western release just yet.
Sega Toys set to release the new improved Homestar
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan. Tagged with Homestar, Sega Toys.

No, it’s not the Homstar Spa, which we reported on the other day.
It is, yet another, Homestar gadget/toy/device/wizardry (delete as appropriate) from Sega Toys, but back to the original style of placing in your living room and watching the night’s sky from your sofa, instead of the bath tub.
Meet my girlfriend - EMA!
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News. Tagged with Gadgets, Sega Toys.
Ok, no it’s not my actual girlfriend, but rather a new gadget from Sega Toys.
“EMA,” or Eternal Maiden Actualization, stands at 38cm tall (just over a foot) and has the abilities to sing, dance and walk “like a lady,” according to Sega. Internal infra-red sensors also allow for a high level of interactivity with humans, and EMA can register anyone in her proximity. One of her ‘tricks’ is her ability to hand out business cards.
Now for those looking forward to a future with ’sex bots’ or girlfriends you can control, (actually I think all red-blooded men will fit into either of those categories), then the future could be looking good, thanks to EMA. While EMA may not be of a suitable height, shape or even perform in bed, she does have a bit of a risque side to her. Should anyone put their head close enough to hers, then she will lean forward and kiss the person in front of her. Fantastic, eh?
The downsides are that; it will only be available in Japan, it will cost around $175, and anyone dying to get a peck on the cheek, from a midget-bot will have to wait until September 26th, when she goes on sale.
For those than can read Japanese, check out the PDF for more information.

Sega unveils its “Wii Fit” - sans the Wii
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Japan, News. Tagged with Sega Toys.
In this day and age of training ‘games’ - such as the various ‘Brain Trainers’ on the market, and now with Nintendo’s Wii Fit trying to combat obesity, it was to be expected that Sega might try their way with the whole fitness scene with the Body Trainer.
However, unlike Nintendo, Sega are not using a games console to help people get fit. No sir, they are going for the old fashion approach of letting people get out of the house and exercise… but in slightly more futursitic way - yep old meets new…
The Body Trainer is essentially a set of headphones, which can monitor your heart rate and will alter the speed of music playing, depending on how hard you are training and what your heart rate is at.
Well watch the video above and you should get the idea.

Sega Toys mind control
Posted by Ryan. Filed under News, Ryan. Tagged with Sega Toys.
Sega Toys, an arm of the Sega-Sammy group based in Japan that makes techy toys such as the Home Star, Sega iFish, iDog and more cool gadgets, has teamed up with Neurosky to develop innovative, next-generation consumer entertainment products which can be controlled by the mind!
Check this out:
(PRLog.Org) – Dec 10, 2007 – NeuroSky, Inc., the leading innovator in cost-effective and “wearable†bio-sensor and signal processing systems, and SEGA TOYS Co., Ltd., a unique toy maker and part of the SEGA SAMMY GROUP of Tokyo, a global entertainment organization, are announcing a strategic partnership for developing innovative, next generation consumer entertainment products. Their goal is to join forces to take ‘play’ to the next level by pioneering toys which allow players to use brainwaves and other bio-signals to control them.
Since early 2007, NeuroSky has been steadily building a relationship with SEGA TOYS. By leveraging NeuroSky’s bio-sensor technologies and development tools, SEGA TOYS has been developing a wide range of exciting, next generation consumer toys.
“SEGA TOYS is taking play to the next level, and we at NeuroSky are proud to be a part of this break-through in next generation entertainment”, said NeuroSky CEO Stanley Yang. “With our ThinkGearâ„¢ bio-sensor technology and innovative capacity of SEGA TOYS, our collaboration with SEGA TOYS will empower consumers to intimately interact with or control a toy, using their mind.â€
Over the last several years, SEGA TOYS has been actively pursuing strategic business alliances with partners both inside and outside the toy industry. Kenji Yokozeki, Managing Director of SEGA TOYS Co. Ltd., is quoted as saying: “We are enthusiastic about the potential we see in developing a unique franchised product line featuring NeuroSky’s technology. At SEGA TOYS, our priority is to provide customers with value based on new types of play, and NeuroSky provides us with the core technology to meet this challenge.â€
I don’t know about you, but this is either the coolest toy EVER… Or a front for an evil corporation that’s trying to take over the world using mind control. NeuroSky sounds a bit dodgy to me. Terminator’s ‘SkyNet,’ anyone? You decide!
