Rumour: Sega Racing Studio closes
Posted by Graham. Filed under Europe, G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, PC, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Sega Rally Revo.
Reports are coming in suggesting that Sega Racing Studio is closing down, with immediate effect. We are currently treating the news as a rumour, as Sega Europe are yet to confirm the reports.
According to a former staff member from the studio, the Solihull-based outfit has shut down effective immediately.
The studio was founded in 2005 to help Sega establish a racing game team that drew on the UK development sector’s heritage in the genre. Former Codemasters man Guy Wilday was picked to run the studio which in time grew to include over 60 staff working on multiple projects, including the Rally remake and purported new racing IP.
Should the news be true, then it is a sad day for all Sega Nerds. Sega Racing Studio has, so far, only been able to bring out one title this generation, the impressive Sega Rally Revo on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
We shall also need to see if Sega Racing Studio will still be able to deliver any games that are still currently under development, like Storm Chaser, or if the games will be given to other studios to finish off (if at all).
My fingers are crossed, though, that this is all some unfortunate misunderstanding. Sega Racing Studio has/had so much potential to bring back the some classic Sega racing IPs, such as Daytona, Sega Touring Cars, Manx TT, or just to create something new.

Sega on Steam

Sega recently announced that it is to join the growing list of publishers which sell its games via Steam. When buying from Steam you will get a ‘virtual’ copy of the game which will download directly to your computer’s hard drive.
Games available right now include many of the critically acclaimed Total War titles such as Rome Total War and Medieval 2 Total War plus expansions, as well as Sega Rally and Outrun 2006 Coast2Coast. Upcoming games include Universe at War: Earth Assault and The Golden Compass.
Here’s the Official Announcement from Valve via Steam:
Sega® and Valve® today announce an agreement to deliver a lineup of new Sega titles to customers around the world via Steam®, the leading online platform for PC games.
The new Sega games coming to Steam include Universe at War: Earth Assult, The Golden Compass, Sega Rally Revo, Sega Rally, Worldwide Soccer Manager, Futbol Manager and more. In addition to the new line up games, Sega titles previously released on Steam to customers in North America, such as Medieval II and Rome Total War, are now available to Steam gamers in Europe and most of the world. Sega Rally Revo and Sega Rally, two highly anticipated new racing titles, are available now.
Universe at War: Earth Assult – an epic real-time strategy game – and The Golden Compass – an action/adventure title based on New Line Cinema’s upcoming feature film – are targeted for release in December.
I don’t know about you guys but I would really like to see some Sega classics that made it to the PC such as Typing of the Dead, Virtua Fighter 2 and Sonic Mega Collection Plus.
TGS 2007: Day one overview

Well hello there fellow Sega Nerdians. It is I Graham, and I have just finished for the day at Tokyo Game Show.
It was a worrying time for a while, as we were told at one point we wouldn’t be allowed Press Passes this year (another sucky thing about not being paid for this job!). However, I managed to use my cunning, guile and my amazing charms to get myself tickets for all 4 days. So after flashing my collection of thongs at the lady, and blinding her, I managed to nab a pass, and got into the show.
Right now, I’m incredibly tired and hungry - walking around for some 9 hours definitely wears a hole in your socks! So because of this, I have decided to give you guys a very quick overview of my experiences today. A quick guide to some of the games I played, and some brief impressions.
But do not worry, over the next couple of days, I shall definitely be bringing you the goods, with plenty of videos, pictures and honest opinions on the upcoming games from Sega, plus some big games from some other companies -Â and a few smaller ones.
What did I see/do today?
Sega Rally launch trailer
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, PC, Sony PSP, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with Sega Rally Revo.
With the game set to be released in but a couple of weeks, Sega have started upping their advertising for the game. With a recent release of the demo on Xbox Live (yeah we missed that one, sorry guys), that should help promote the game, giving gamers a real taste of things to come, and now this. The latest trailer.Â
Where as previous trailers have been more to show off to the gaming community, with technical videos and narration, this latest ‘launch trailer’ is more like a real advert for the game.
With flashy writing appearing on screen, and a groovy backing track, this video is more than likely going to be one of the actual trailers used to promote the game, to the world at large. Enjoy.

Sega Rally - Canyon trailer
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, PC, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with Sega Rally Revo.
Yet another classy video, from what looks to be (potentially) the greatest racing game this generation, so far. We have seen a wet and warm jungle, a slippy, snowy mountain, and now a more arid, savanna environment. Marvellous.
More Sega Rally Revo PSP screenshots

For all you busy on-the-go gamers, you’ll be interested in Sega Rally Revo for the PSP. The game is pretty detailed and looks better then 90 percent of Wii games (cheap shot).
The developer for the PSP version is Bugbear Enetertainment (known for Flatout). I myself haven’t played Flatout; my collection already consists of too many racing games that end with ‘out’ in the end of the title.
Sega Rally - ‘Alpine Trailer’
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, PC, Sony PlayStation 3, Video. Tagged with Sega Rally Revo.
Sega has just released a new trailer for the upcoming Sega Rally Revo. This latest video shows off several cars racing around the snowy peaks of the Alpine track from the game.
The more I see this game in action, the more I want it. I just hope it plays as well as it looks.
Sega Rally Revo PSP screenshots

It doesn’t look as good as its 360/PS3 brother. But it still looks damn good. Plus nothing like playing Sega Rally on the road.
Sorry about the ugly watermark on the images. I hate watermarks. These are the only PSP screenshots I could find.

New Sega Rally photos are tropical
Posted by George. Filed under Microsoft Xbox 360, PC, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Sega Rally Revo.

These new photos show off the environments of the new Sega Rally Revo. Looks bright and beautiful. No more ugly, night, and glassy effects from Need for Speed Underground. This is the total opposite of that game and I couldn’t ask for more.
Now go buy the super expensive steering wheel, Car seat, Pine-sol, and grab a copy of Sega Rally Revo this fall. I can’t wait, have had a over stock of Pine-sol since the game was announced.
