ATEI 2009: Sega Rally 3

Sega Rally 3 is possibly the easiest game from the show to describe to you all, as it is essentially a slightly stripped down (i.e made ‘arcade friendly’) port of the Xbox 360 and PS3 game Sega Rally Revo. So if you know Sega Rally Revo, you should know how most of the game played.
The game is running off the same engine, looks pretty much the same (though I have a feeling the console versions might be slightly graphically superior), it has the same tracks (or at least the ones I played were the same) and the same selection of cars (though perhaps fewer).
What is different is that you are sitting in front of a nice arcade cabinet, playing the game on a rather large screen, sitting in a driving seat that moves with the game and the game includes the original Desert track from the original Sega Rally! Yippee!
Sega Nerdcast 18: It Came From Japan
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris. Tagged with Platinum Games, Sega Nerdcast, Sega Rally 3, Shiren 3.

Although we didn’t have quite as much big news to talk about as we did last week, we were still able to squeeze out enough Sega goodness to put together yet another Sega Nerdcast. In this week’s episode, we have Hudson and George joining Graham, Nathan and myself for an hour-long chat where we discuss more Platinum Games information, Shiren 3 and Sega Rally 3.
We follow that up in the second half with our second edition of Name That Tune, but the big question is will the Sega Nerds team vindicate themselves after last week’s embarrassing showing? You’ll have to listen and find out!

~Remake of the Desert course from Sega Rally ‘95~Â
Just a day or two ago we reported on an event held by Sega-Amusements Europe (the arcade division of Sega Europe), show casing the brand new Sega Rally 3. While we didn’t get to attend, the guys at Arcade Heroes did, which is where we got the info about the game from before.Â
Well, now the guys at Arcade Heroes have been kind enough to share their hands-on impressions with everyone, and post up some video footage of the game.
The game sounds pretty damn good, and from the above video, I think you guys can agree it certainly looks good.
Read on for some of their impressions, after the break.
Sega shows off Sega Rally 3
Posted by Graham. Filed under Arcade, Europe, G. Tagged with Sega Rally 3.
It seems that Sega Europe has been showing off the new Sega Rally 3 arcade game this week at a special showing in Chessington, Surrey, UK. Unfortunately, we weren’t invited to the event, but we can still bring you some news (ah, the wonders of the Internet).
The cabinets are said to be sporting 62-inch monitors and scaled-down models of cars (for seating) with motion technology in the base. The game features include link play for up to six players, the original Sega Rally ‘95’s desert track (remodeled with today’s technological advances in graphics), three challenging environments and a championship mode.
Nothing really new by the sound of it, but still exciting, nevertheless, to have another true arcade Sega Rally. One of the biggest complaints against the recent Sega Rally Revo on the Xbox 360 and Ps3 was that the game had lost the “arcade feeling” and had become more of a challenge to learn, which went against the usual pickup-and-play experience players were used to with the first two games.
Justin Burke, sales and marketing manager, commented: “The tremendous response we have had this week confirms that we have a winner on our hands and they will be a great boost to any arcade that sites them.”
Personally I cannot wait to see this hit arcades. I’m going to drive around all week if I have to find an arcade holding the game!
