Sega Nerdcast 7: Naka Damn It!
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, G, Nathan. Tagged with Sega Nerdcast.
Ya know what the great thing about covering Sega is? Even when it’s a slow news week, you can always rest assured the Sega fanbase will be right there to offer you up something juicy, and this week it certainly didn’t disappoint.
Somehow, after we managed to quit laughing at poor baby Yujinaka, we were able to record this week’s Nerdcast. I must say from a unbiased, unabashed and totally impartial perspective, this week’s episode may very well be the best one yet. And ya know what’s the real surprise? I only had one Crown and Coke during the making of this episode. However, three small midgets were killed during the recording – a small price to pay for the awesomeness that is the Sega Nerdcast, though.
In this week’s Nerdcast, we introduce two brand new features - The Water Cooler and The Quiz. I won’t spoil them for you, but I do think everyone will enjoy them quite a bit. As always, please leave us feedback, because that’s how we get better and we love hearing everyone tell us how much we suck. Seriously, we do.

Sega Nerdcast 6: Wrath of the Nerds
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, G, Nathan. Tagged with Sega Nerdcast.
Welcome to another grand edition of the Sega Nerdcast. This week we have a couple of special guests in Brett and Devon from The New Adventures of Captain S. Well, Devon chimes in intermittently throughout the show when he can find the time to tear himself away from a grueling session of Sonic 3.
However, there are a few hiccups later on in the show, but I guess that’s what happens when you have a podcast that spans four separate locations, three of which are thousands of miles away from each other. I’d like to think, though, that this show was just too damn hot for the intertubes, and we overloaded the internet.
As always, we walk you through the latest Sega news that has hit the wire, we review Sonic 3, argue over which Sonic game is the best and really show just how damn geeky nerdy we are!
Enjoy!

Sega Nerdcast 5: Wrath of the Nerds
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, G, Nathan, News. Tagged with Sega Nerdcast.
Wow, has it really been nearly 20 days since the last Nerdcast? Geez. Well, I do want to apologize to our one or two faithful listeners. We promise to be on time from here on out.
However, we haven’t been sitting around doing nothing during the downtime. Oh no sir, we’ve added some really cool new features like The Flashback, where we play and talk about an old-school Sega game voted on by our readers, and The Nerd Wars, where we debate a controversial topic surrounding Sega or the video game industry in general.
I kid you not, this is the best Nerdcast yet. If you haven’t listened to one yet, I highly suggest you check this one out and go back and listen to the rest. You’ll be a better person for it. And if you aren’t fully satisfied with it, we’ll refund your full amount plus shipping and handling! What a deal, right?
Also, we’re giving away a copy of Shining Force: EXA for the PS2. All you have to do is tell us what you thought of this week’s Nerdcast right here in this post. Please give us some decent feedback, because it’s really important to us.

Mini-Retro Review: Croc - Legend of the Gobbos (Saturn)
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Retro, Review. Tagged with Saturn, Sega Nerdcast.
Foreword: In last weeks Nerdcast (#4) we mentioned some new features that we were planning on introducing. One of them being the idea of ‘Mini-Retro Reviews’. In a nutshell it will be a quick round up of the reviewers views on a retro title, either made by Sega or on an old Sega system. The reviews will be quick for us to write (so we can get them out to you quickly) and more importantly, they will be quick, for you (the reader), to read and get an overall opinion about the game.
Quick Outline: Guide Croc (a crocodile) through a 3D world, on his quest to save his peace-loving Gobbo friends from the grasp of the evil magician, Baron Dante, and his devil-like assistants, the Dantinis.
Gameplay: For one of the first 3D platform games of the 32 bit era, the game does play pretty darn well. The levels are not big and open, like in Mario 64 or Spyro, but are rather made up of smaller, enclosed areas and random floating platforms (above large bottomless pits). Croc himself does feel a little ’slippy’ at times, making sharp turns can be awkward. Also due to Croc ’slipping’ some precision jumps become mighty annoying. This becomes even worse when you reach the ice levels. The gameplay can also start to get boring at times, even though they have very different settings and locals, the levels do feel very similar and play starts to drag somewhat. - 7/10
Graphics: Again for an early 3D title, the graphics are good. Lots of bright colours and good textures, although, due to it being an early 3D 32bit title, you do get a fair amount of blocky objects, plus some glitchy and grainy graphics. - 8/10
Sounds: The music is generally light hearted- but what else would you expect from a cute, cartoony style platform game?ÂÂ
Kong-Rey delays Sega Nerdcast
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris. Tagged with Sega Nerdcast.
Your regularly-scheduled Sega Nerdcast will arrive to you a little late this week thanks to Tropical Storm Kong-Rey. I wish this was just a cruel April Fool’s joke, but I don’t think Weather.com is the type of site to do something like that.
From what I’ve heard, it won’t be too bad, and we’re expecting only 40-45 mph winds. But apparently, it’s bad enough that I’m having to go to work for 12 hours on a Sunday afternoon, thus making us push back our Nerdcast recording.
If things go well and I don’t lose power, we should have the new episode up and running sometime early next week. But just in case we do lose electricity, I’m charging up my handhelds now! :)
Sega Nerdcast 4: Return of the Fanboys

Wow, is it really time for the Sega Nerdcast again? Why, I guess it is! Graham and I have a really great show for all you Sega Nerds this week. We’ve cut off Nathan’s bear hands, so he won’t be joining us this week. But look on the bright side, at least you won’t have to bother with him typing in your ear anymore!
In this week’s episode, Graham and I reveal some new and juicy Wii NiGHTS rumors that you probably haven’t heard anywhere else yet, we talk about our Alien Syndrome PSP vs. Wii controversy, we unveil our Sega PC contest winner, and much, much more.
If things get a bit weird this week, I apologize; I may have had a bit too much to drink during the course of the Nerdcast, and I steadily got drunker.
I also want to ask pretty please to leave us some feedback. It’s how we, ya know, get better and stuff.

Sega Nerds’ SegaPC contest - Finished!
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, PC. Tagged with Giveaways, Nerdaway, Sega Nerdcast.
That’s right ladies and gentlefolk. The 2nd Nerdcast contest is now officially over! And I must say a big thanks to all who entered!
The entries are now in, we are accepting no more. All that is left is to tally up the points and see who the winner is.
In case you don’t know, the contest was the chance to win 11 (yes eleven!) SegaPC titles. For a chance to win, all you had to do was download a small quiz and try to get as many points as you could, out of the 59 available. Now some people did complain and say it was too hard, but we did have quite a few people scoring in the high 40’s, so it wasn’t that hard it seems. Plus we didn’t want to just give the prizes away! No people, you do need to do some work.
Anyway who’s the winner? Well the winner shall, initially, be revealed on the next Sega Nerdcast - which should be available to download from Monday (26th March). So stay tuned to hear the results then! And for everyone that did enter and was wondering how they did- I shall post up the answers to the quiz in due course.
Please feel free to send us any comments or suggestions about the contest, if you hated it- tell us. If you enjoyed it- definitely let us know!
Once again, thank you to everyone who participated in the contest, we had a lot of fun doing it- and I hope you all enjoyed it too!ÂÂ
Sega Nerds’ Sega PC contest – update!
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, PC. Tagged with Exclusive, Fan Stuff, Giveaways, Nerdaway, Sega Nerdcast.
For those that pay attention and/or listen to the Sega Nerdcast, you should have known that we have been holding a contest, in association with Geekos – gaming and PC repair store- to win 11 (count them- Eleven!) Sega PC titles!
Now, for those who cared to hear the latest Nerdcast you will have heard that we have extended the contest by another week - until this Saturday, in time for the next Nerdcast. We have had several entries in, but we feel we can have more! Some have said the contest seems a little bit like “hard work,” but surely you didn’t expect us to just give you the prizes! And it’s not hard work. It’s supposed to be fun!
It should help exercise your brain a little bit, or if you care to use a search engine, we don’t mind. So far no one has received full marks for their entries. So the game isn’t over yet people!
To help tantalise you a bit, here is the full list of games:
Sega Nerdcast 3: A NiGHT Shall Rise Again
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, G, Nathan. Tagged with Sega Nerdcast.
Alas, it’s that time of the week - time for the Nerdcast! This week, we’ve finally managed to get Nathan on the show, Graham talks about nearly getting the “axe” at work and oh yeah … we talk about Sega and video games!
This is a can’t-miss episode for sure. I want to apologize ahead of time; it seems Nathan’s a giant ogre who likes to punch his keyboard during the recording of the Nerdcast. You can rest assurred that he’s received his ample supply of floggings and beatdowns, however.
As always, please leave us feedback. Your comments are very important to us, and we take them to heart. Oh yeah, give us some good ol’ iTunes reviews and Diggs, too!

Captain S - Episode 6
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Video. Tagged with Captain S, Fan Stuff, Sega Nerdcast.
Those of you who heard our 2nd SegaNerd Cast, will have heard our exclusive interview with the Captain S crew (well most of them). We here at SegaNerds are big fans of the Captain S show and on the SegaNerd Cast they revealed that Episode 6: Nigel Strikes Back will be the most important episode yet- and they weren’t wrong.
For those that don’t regularly watch the show, you are idiots I would advise that you at least watch Episode 5: When push comes to Shove it. As that episode has a fantastic ending that leads directly onto episode 6.
But for those that do keep up with the brilliant show, here’s Episode 6: Nigel Strikes Back. Enjoy.
If for some reason you can’t see the video, or perhaps want to check out previous episodes go to the Captain S main site at PBC Productions.
