Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s QJ might be the sequel to Rez

According to the EGM rumor mill section, Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s upcoming Wii exclusive game called QJ (working title) might be the spiritual successor of Rez.
Tetsuya Mizuguchi left Sega after they merged with Sammy, after he went solo he had massive success with his Lumines game and all the expansions for it. After he announced Rez HD for Xbox Live, we all thought that Mizuguchi and Sega might have patched up their broken relationship.
Seems like we are all wrong, since QJ and the upcoming bundle called Q3 are both going to be published by Atari.

REZ reduced for XBLA ‘Black Friday’
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with America, Black Friday, PSN, Rez, Sonic Unleashed, Thanksgiving, Theme, XBLA.

For all you US living people, today is ‘Black Friday’ - the day after Thanksgiving. Well you should all know that, I’m letting the rest of the world know the score.
Black Friday is normally the day where people rush to the shops for some crazy sales, and this year the sales have reached the online stores, XBLA and PSN.
The bad news is that these sales are only available for US Xbox/PS3 owners and not everything is reduced, plus there is not a great deal of Sega content in the sales.
But the good news is that one of XBLA best games, REZ has been reduced from 800 points to 500 points. Definitely worth it for such a cracking title. Also Sega-related is the new Sonic Unleashed theme, down from 250 points to 180 points.
You might be wondering about any Sega stuff on PSN, but (after scratching my head for a while) I don’t think Sega has actually released anything on PSN - at least not anything that you pay for. And I certainly didn’t see anything in the PSN sales list by Sega.
If you want to check out what else is on the XBLA Black Friday list, check out Major Nelson’s blog.

Rez HD, Ikaruga best XBLA launches ever
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris. Tagged with Dreamcast, Rez, XBLA.
It appears that old Dreamcast games ported over to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade are pretty popular as Rez HD and Ikaruga sold the most units in a three-day span and now hold the prestigious title as the best XBLA launches ever, with 25,000 and 22,500 units sold, respectively.
Even more impressive is the next closest game is Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 1 with 16,500 units sold.
So now that we know gamers will happily eat up their favorite Dreamcast games, what should we see next?

REZ beta project leaked
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Retro, Video. Tagged with Downloads, Dreamcast, Fan Sites, Fan Stuff, Rez, Unreleased.
It has only been about 2 months or so since Rez HD made an impact on Xbox Live Arcade, with it’s highly unique and, quite frankly, insane stance on the rail shooter. But any true Sega fan will know that the Dreamcast (and then slightly later the PS2) is where it all started.
But what many don’t know is that Rez was not the first of it’s kind. Before Rez hit our screens the game K-Project was under development, also known as Project Eden and Vibes.
Review: Rez HD

How do you justify paying $10 for a 6-year-old game? With Rez HD, it’s easy.
Rez HD gets alternative trance vibrator support
Posted by George. Filed under Microsoft Xbox 360, News. Tagged with Downloads, Rez, XBLA.

Apparently there isn’t going to be support for your worn out trance vibrator. Yet, all is not lost, it was announced at CES that the game will use the extra 360 controls connected to the 360 as a trance vibrator. Meaning it will support 3 controllers, acting as trance vibrators, while you shoot your way through this updated cult classic.
Rez HD is set to be release sometime in 2008.

After hearing a few scant details and some images, we now have the first videos of Mizuguchi’s Rez HD in action. Of course, we know the game is headed to the Xbox Live Arcade and will support 5.1 surround sound and HD widescreen output, however we still don’t know the exact date it will be made available or even how much it’ll cost. All Sega’s confirmed is that it should be here in the first quarter of 2008.

Rez HD info and screenshots
Posted by Nathan. Filed under Microsoft Xbox 360, Nathan, News. Tagged with Rez, TGS, XBLA.
Following last night’s surprise announcement that Dreamcast/PS2 classic Rez would be making its way to the Xbox Live Arcade service, 1Up.com has more info and the first screenshots of the upcoming game straight from Microsoft’s pre-TGS event.
Q Entertainment, the company Rez and Space Channel 5 creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi formed after leaving Sega, will be handling the conversion. Expect high-definition widescreen output and 5.1 surround sound.
“We are excited to announce that Rez will be given a new life, this time in digital form. The game will be presented in hi-definition and will be accessible to those who did not have a chance to experience Rez the first time around,” said Mizuguchi. “Personally, Rez has been and will always be a lifelong concept. I hope to take what I learned from the experience of creating the original game and look forward to taking it to a whole new level in the future.”
Rez HD is scheduled to be published by Sega in Q1 2008, and does not have an announced price yet.

Rez coming to XBLA
Posted by Nathan. Filed under Microsoft Xbox 360, Nathan, News. Tagged with Rez, XBLA.

James Mielke of 1Up.com has spent the last two years putting together a fantastic Panzer Dragoon retrospective, complete with interviews, video and stories to delight the most hardcore of Panzer fans. Check it out, naturally.
However, this isn’t the most exciting news. Mielke, during some of the extensive time he spent with original Panzer Dragoon developer Yukio Futatsugi, learned that Sega fan favorite and cult hit Rez will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade.
No further details or dates or anything; just a one-sentence tease of the psychedelic goodness to come. But we all know what the XBLA treatment entails: High-definition, widescreen, surround sound on-rails shooting nirvana. Gentlemen and gentlewomen, ready thy Xboxes.

Rez on Xbox Live!
Posted by Ryan. Filed under Microsoft Xbox 360, News, Ryan. Tagged with Rez.
Details are short at the moment but according to EGM, Sega’s crazy rail musical shooter REZ will be coming to Xbox Live. If true, it’s great news! I love REZ, and if Sega will be supporting Xbox Live, it gives us hope that other Sega games from Dreamcast or even Saturn will grace Live in the future. We can hope! More on this as we get more info.
