German-based website www.rockin-b.de recently posted up the results to their Sega Saturn Coding contest 2006.

The contest was for people to create a “visually impressive game or demo” that will run on a standard Sega Saturn.  Ports of games were allowed, as long as they enhanced to port to run on the Saturn hardware.

The contest was based on 4 specific areas, which they explain here;

“Unlike other contests, in this one the judges won’t give scores, points, marks or percentage rates. Instead, they sort all entries from best to worst in each of 4 categories: graphics, sound, gameplay and overall. The last category is the one which determines the final ranking by merging the results of all judges together.In addition to graphics, sound and gameplay (which are primarly thought to be an information for people downloading the entries afterwards), the overall-ranking is most importandly influenced by the objective of the contest. If you want to become one of the 3 winners and get an attractive prize, make sure you meet the objective!”
