Sega Europe announces adults-only HotD: Overkill pack

Sega Europe has just announced a very special adults-only House of the Dead: Overkill pre-order pack. The pack contains the game, limited edition slip case and (the best bit) a limited edition graphic novel.
The bad news is that it seems this deal is only available for PAL territories, so all you US fans could be out of luck. There is a possibility this could change, but right now the pack has only been announced for PAL regions.

Hands-on preview: House of the Dead: Overkill

The more observant of you might have noticed my little Twitter message (see right-hand column on site), so hopefully some of you will have seen this coming.
Earlier this week, Sega Nerds was invited by those sexy chaps at Sega Europe to get some hands-on time with the upcoming Wii-exclusive House of the Dead: Overkill.
Unfortunately, as the game is still in development, I wasn’t able to play a full version. Instead my hands-on time was spent with a specially made demo, which contained just the second level from the game - Bayou County General Hospital.
While Overkill is the latest installment in the franchise, the game is actually a prequel to the original Arcade and Saturn title. Because of this earlier setting, developer Headstrong Games has opted to give the title a cheesy 1970’s horror movie vibe, complete with film grain effects, bad acting and some wonderfully over-the-top voice-overs.
Gamereactor interviews Headstrong Games

Gamereactor has recently posted up an interview with Headstrong Games’Â Studio Head, Bradley Crooks, on the upcoming House of the Dead: Overkill game.
The interview talks a bit about how the game came to be, the ‘Grindhouse’ influence, how it differs from other House of the Dead titles and also a bit on something called “Wii View.”
Wii View will allow players to look off the normal camera perspective, and it helps add to the drop-in drop-out co-op play the game offers. Bradley comments how it is no longer just two players sharing the same screen and players need to work together utilise the Wii View feature effectively.Â
Also of note, is that the Wii Motion Plus feature will no be incorporated into the game. Apparently HotD:Overkill has been finely tuned without it, and the company sees no need to include it. Which is fair enough, Ghost Squad and House of the Dead: 2&3 Return play fine on the Wii, so I see no reason why this game can’t also.

Take a gander at the awesome House of the Dead: Overkill press kit

Possibly one of the best things about Sega’s announcement for the new House of the Dead: Overkill game, is this freaking awesome press kit that was sent out.
The press kit is made to look like an old VHS tape, with the cover making the game look/sound more like a cheesey old B-grade zombie movie (just like the games).

Confirmed: Headstrong Games to reveal new title at Leipzig

A couple of days ago we reported that Sega had revealed their line-up for this years Leipzig Games Convention. In the report it was said that Sega would be revealing a secret title at the show, and rumours were that Kuju would be the ones to show off their game.
Rumour: Kuju to make the new Jet set Radio game?
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Nintendo Wii. Tagged with Dreamcast, Headstrong Games, Jet Set Radio, Kuju, Rumour.

It has come to our attention that in 2006 Kuju tried to pitch an idea for a new Jet Set Radio title. Unfortunately it seems that the idea was rejected at the time. But perhaps Sega has had a change of hearts, what with rumours that a new Jet Set Radio could be on it’s way, possibly for the Wii.
The ‘evidence’ (let’s call it that) came to light, when we were tipped off about some artwork, drawn by Cory “The Rey” Lewis, which was used in the original pitch back in 2006. The artwork shows off a few of the main characters, plus some rival gangs - including a brand new gang, designed by Cory.

Kuju Entertainment and Sega team up again on Wii

After Sega decided not to advertise the brilliant game Crush by Zoë Mode, I’m surprised that Kuju is still working with Sega. It seems this time their development team Headstrong Games will be working on an untitled Wii action game. They are the studio that worked on Battalion Wars 2, so we should expect a good game.
I can’t get mad about good teams working at Sega, just wish they would advertise their games more.
