Happy Tree Friends finally available after many false alarms

After being delayed numerous times, Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm is finally available for purchase and download on both Xbox Live Arcade and PC. The game promises cartoony violence that stays true to the spirit of the online and TV show franchise. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is up to you.
You can learn more about the game at Sega’s own page for it, and you can purchase the PC version from some shady online retailer or from Steam. Unfortunately, there is no demo, on the PC, for semi-interested parties to sample the game before deciding on a purchase, and that sets off some warning signs in my mind. Proceed with caution.
Happy Tree Friends releasing soon, you gonna buy it?

Happy Tree Friends is releasing this Wednesday, and there hasn’t seemed to be much excitement over this downloadable title at Sega Nerds HQ, so we thought we’d ask our loyal readers what they thought of Stainless Games’ new product.

We haven’t heard much about this title in the last few months. But, believe it or not, Happy Tree Friends is almost upon us, and Sega has released a new trailer, in preparation.
From what I have heard about the game, and judging by the video it loooks true, Happy Tree Friends will be a similar game to the old classic, Lemmings. Guiding the loveable critters past various tricks and traps… then again, knowing how bloody the cartoon is, perhaps the idea is to kill them off a brutally amusing fashion. We’ll see.
The game is set to feature 10 gory levels, plus an exclusive episode of the show based around video games.
Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm is due to be released (worldwide) on Xbox Live Arcade and PC Download, June 25. Stay tuned for our review, when the game drops.
Happy Tree Friends coming soon on Steam

Despite being set for release in about two weeks, Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm has stayed decidedly low-profile. We know practically nothing about the game, having seen only one video showing actual in-game footage.
We did know the game was set for release on both the Xbox Live Arcade and PC platforms. We did not know how the game was to be distributed on PC. Thankfully, the game appears to be skipping the tediousness of retail outlets and the dreaded possibility of human interaction by its availability on Valve’s excessively convenient Steam service.
False Alarm’s Steam page also boasts what are possibly the game’s first screenshots and a PR blurb of the game’s content. Tantalizing! You can’t purchase the game yet, but I’m sure that will change all too soon.

While we’ve been busy playing all our great new Sega titles the past few months, Mondo Media has been hard at work developing one of Sega’s first licensed games for 2008 in Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm for the PC and Xbox Live Arcade. Up until now, there hasn’t been a lot to show for it, but Sega’s just sent us two new videos and promises more are on the way.
The game, which will be released April 24, is an adaptation of the popular and extremely violent cartoon found on G4’s Midnight Spank.
Happy Tree Friends coming April 21

It’s been a crazy couple months, and with Viking: Battle for Asgard just shipping, it looks like we’ll finally have time to breathe until the next round of Sega titles head our way. It looks like the next game we’ll be getting is Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm as Mondo Chick announced the game should be released on April 21 on the PC and Xbox Live Arcade, pending Sega’s approval.
We are waiting on final confirmation from Sega and should have the exact date within the next week. The game has gotten great pre-reviews and we think you’ll really enjoy navigating all the characters through the various levels. It’s no easy task… but you even have fun if you lose… isn’t it great to see all the crazy, bloody deaths???
I feel a little bad because we haven’t given much attention to the Sega published title. But I don’t think many of us have had time to think about very much else with the March Madness Sega unleashed on us in the form of Condemned 2, The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, Sega Superstars Tennis and Viking: Battle for Asgard.

Everyone knows Sega has jumped into the licensed gaming crowd with Golden Compass and the upcoming Aliens games and the rest of the Marvel series, but what some people may not realize is Sega has also been working on a Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm game, too.
Up until now, we haven’t seen much of the game, but Sega has just released this teaser trailer, which, surprisingly, doesn’t show a whole lot about the game. However, what it does show is that the game, like the cartoon, will be really, really violent. Oh yeah, and it’s coming this Spring on Xbox Live Arcade and the PC.
Sega finds new friends - Happy Tree Friends

If there was any doubt that Sega would ever support Xbox Live Arcade after yesterday, well, those doubts can now be calmed as the publisher/developer has announced the ultra cute/violent Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm for XBLA and PC.
Once again, Sega isn’t actually developing the title, instead, Stainless Studios is handling the job, and it should be released this fall.
According to Sega’s press release, the game “enables players to control one of three characters; Flippy, the emotionally tattered war-torn bear; Lumpy, the dim-witted blue moose; and Handy, an amputee beaver carpenter always eager to lend a helping limb.”
Players will have highly explosive and lethal resources at their disposal like gasoline, nitroglycerin and concrete “to augment the dynamic 3D environments.” Whatever that means. In total, players will travel through 10 levels including mine shafts, a museum and candy factories.
“We are excited to be partnering with Mondo Media to bring the irreverent comedy of the Happy Tree Friends to gamers worldwide,†said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, Sega of America, Inc. “The dark humor and twisted characters of Happy Tree Friends will act as a great foundation for creating a fun and entertaining universe for gamers and fans of the show alike.â€Â
