NiGHTS into Dreams to hit GameTap next year

While it’s safe to say we were all disappointed with the news that the NiGHTS PS2 remake wouldn’t make its way to the West, there’s a little bit of good news that has recently come out. Sometime next year, and possibly as soon as next month, the original NiGHTS into Dreams will be made available on GameTap.

GameTap actually has several Sega Saturn titles available on its service, and now gets arguably the Saturn’s crowning jewel. Now, if they just offered other great titles like Panzer Dragoon Saga, it might sway us to jump on board.

GameTap has announced that the Dreamcast classic Typing of the Dead will be available on its titular service October 11.

Typing of the Dead, for those who don’t know, is a rendition of Sega’s arcade shooter House of the Dead with keyboards used in place of guns. It is unbelievably fun, and you should all be very excited. God knows Nathan is.

panzerdragoon.jpgToday marks the official launch of Saturn titles on GameTap’s online game service, as Bug! is now available to subscribers.

Saturn classics Panzer Dragoon and its sequel Panzer Dragoon Zwei are both listed on the “Coming Soon” page of the GameTap PC client. No launch dates are listed yet.

The games, released in 1995 and 1996 respectively, were developed by the now-defunct Team Andromeda. The team was dissolved in 1998 shortly after the release of Panzer Dragoon Saga, an RPG cult hit that is notorious for being one of the hardest games to find for collectors. Many members of Team Andromeda moved on to other Sega development studios Smilebit and United Game Artists.

The series’ most recent entry came on the Xbox in 2003 with Panzer Dragoon Orta, developed by Smilebit.
