The Port Report: My Hero (Master System)

Not every Sega Arcade game is available at home yet, so some times us Sega buffs have to find the best version available if we don’t want to turn to Emulation. Thus, the Port Report was born. Seganerds.com will brave the endless sea of Sega ports so you don’t have to! Keep in mind that the final score is not an overall game score, it’s a score comparing the game to it’s Arcade original.
Ever heard of My Hero? Odd’s are you haven’t, but My Hero (known as Seishun Scandal in Japan) is somewhat similar to say, Alex Kidd or to some extent Altered Beast. My Hero is either a clever parody of the Beat-Em-Up genre, or a sorry, walking cliche. Maybe we would know for sure if the game was better known. Unlike Alien Syndrome and Space Harrier, My Hero has been ported to a whopping one console; The Sega Master System. Let’s check it out.

Interview With a Sega Star: Joe Musashi

Each week here at Sega Nerds, we bring you an exclusive face-to-pixel chat with a Sega Character. Today’s interview is with the heroic Ninja in white, Joe Mushashi.
Joe is the original ninja from Shinobi and has gone on to star in almost every Shinobi game since. The Shinobi series has been a staple in Sega’s line-up since 1987, the most recent game in the series being Nightshade (or Kunoichi in Japan) (2004, PS2)
Seganerds: You’re a product of the big ‘Ninja Craze’ of the late 80’s. Along with the Ninja Turtles, Every Marvel character written by Frank Miller and that one guy on Nightmare on Elm Street 4 with the headband. How do you feel about this?
G-Spot: No Wii Virtua Tennis a mistake?
Posted by Graham. Filed under Nintendo Wii. Tagged with Exclusive, G-Spot.
Sega has always been well known for its brilliant sports titles on all systems, and they found huge success and world-wide acclaim in the form of Virtua Tennis in the Arcades and on the Dreamcast.
So it isn’t surprising that so many people, including myself, have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Virtua Tennis 3.
Since Virtua Tennis 3 was first revealed to be in development, the game was originally said to be for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. But more recently, Sega has revealed that the game will also be appearing on the PSP. All good things I say.
The 360 and PS3 players get to see some high-definition Tim Henman volleys (Hey, I’m British - I’m always going to be backing the home team!). Whilst the more outdoor going gamers get to play some fantastic tennis on the go, anywhere without the need for carrying anything bigger than a pencil case - with the PSP version.
It is here though that one must beg the question: “Why not the Wii?”

Thus, the Port Report was born. Seganerds.com will brave the endless sea of Sega ports so you don’t have to! Keep in mind that the final score is not an overall game score, it’s a score comparing the game to it’s Arcade original.
The first ever Port Report is of the System-16 classic shooter, Alien Syndrome. Ported by Tengen, for none other then the Nintendo Entertainment System. Game fans that think Sega games first came to a Nintendo console with the Gameboy Advance or Gamecube will be surprised to know that it happened about twenty years earlier.

G-Spot: Sega and the ‘Last-Gen Fiasco’

Since the demise of the Dreamcast - personally what I (and many others) would call the most underrated system ever made- Sega have been in the press for all the wrong reasons.
Starting with the ill-fated Dreamcast, the machine was great and has some truly great games, but due to several bad moves on Sega’s part and (of course) lack of funds, Sega really couldn’t compete against the bigger wallets of Sony and Microsoft (I would argue the Game Cube was never really a big threat). The Xbox had the power, plus the money and Sony had the good name -from their previous system, along with some strong franchises. Critics would say the Dreamcast had no chance, and fans were angered by Sega’s sudden ‘collapse’ on the system front- especially when so many top titles were due for launch (Half Life, Black & White -anyone?)
But I do not want to talk about the dear old Dreamcast. I want to talk about Sega games, on all platforms from the last generation….
Interview With a Sega Star: Alex Kidd

Each week here at Sega Nerds, we plan to bring you an exclusive face-to-pixel chat with a Sega Character. This week our victim guest is none other then that loveable tyke: Alex Kidd.
First appearing on the scene in 1986 with Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Alex soon become Sega’s mascot through the Master System’s life until Sonic the Hedgehog was released in 1991. Alex Kidd has been the star of six games and has even made an appearance as recently as 2001, on Segagaga for Dreamcast.
Seganerds: Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to have a sit down with us. I think the first thing the readers would like to know is this; What’s with the sideburns?
Alex Kidd: Are you makin’ fun of me? Busy schedule?
Exclusive: Sega Extreme Sports Token Guide
Posted by Graham. Filed under Retro. Tagged with Dreamcast, Exclusive, Guide, Tips.
I was finding it very hard to find any of the secret tokens on this fine game. I downloaded the two bonus tracks, and I loved them and really wanted to get the rest. I searched everywhere on the Internet to try and find a guide for this game, but to no avail. I couldn’t find any thing.
So after a while I decided to make a note of the tokens that I found, just in case I lost my save file- then it wouldn’t take me so long to find them again. I finally found all of the tokens and from it – I had produced a detailed guide to finding them. So here it is my very own guide to one of my favourite sports games.
A bit of an exclusive seeing as I can’t find any other guides out there.
