Golden Axe: Beast Rider

Just a few new screens from the new Golden Axe game.  While some people may not be so excited by this title, I think it is looking like it could be fun.

While a lot of the scenery, and overall appearance of the game, seems to be rather brown - I think the game does look pretty cool.  I especially like the weird flares that Tyris is sporting (see first pic) - especially as the flares are not attached to anything on her legs.

After recently upsetting the British tabloids, Sega hasn’t relaxed their focus on showing the world that the Wii can be a good platform for adult-oriented games.

Our favourite company decided to show off a badass new trailer (above), and some bloody good (oh yeah, pun absolutely intended), screenshots at Leipzig -after the break.

Sega has sent out some sexy new screens for Alpha Protocol.  The upcoming espionage-RPG, from Obsidian, is due out early 2009, and so far it’s looking pretty good.

GC 2008: Samba De Amigo - Ulala confirmed and songs revealed

GC 2008: Samba

You might have thought that Sega had shown us enough of the upcoming Samba De Amigo for the Wii, and that they had revealed pretty much everything about the game.  You would be wrong.

Today, at the Leipzig Games Convention, Sega revealed the game’s track list and some new screenshots featuring the simultaneously lovely and sexy Ulala, from Space Channel 5!

Since Sonic was announced as a featured character in the Wii version of Samba, people have been speculating whether Sega/Gearbox (the developers) would be adding any more fan favourites to the lineup.

What with Ulala coming from a rhythm/music game herself, she was one of the top guesses, and I’m glad to see Sega used their initiative and put her in. Now I wonder if any other Sega characters will feature too? I want to see Ryo Hazuki on this dance floor! ;)

The track list Sega has announced features many of the songs from the original Dreamcast game, plus plenty of new Wii-exclusive tunes to shake your “heiny” to.

Check after the break for more screenshots and that track list.

Summer of Sonic is now over

The Summer of Sonic 2008

Well this years Summer of Sonic event is now over.  It is the second SoS event, but the first to be held in a real life location (the first was web-only) and the very first gathering of Sonic fans, organised by the Sonic community.

I know some of you had doubts about how ‘Nerdy’ it would be, and that large gatherings of geeks should be prohibited by law.  But I have to say, I had a really good time - even though I was clearly out of my depth.

Seriously, among my (real life) friends I’m considered a bit of a gaming geek (or Sega Nerd, if you will) but compared to some people at this event, I was like some sort of high school jock - sans the great sporting abilities and huge muscles.

Summer of Sonic - this cake is not a lie

Summer of Sonic CakeFor those that don’t know, the “Summer of Sonic” (aka SoS) event will be starting (and ending) tomorrow - Saturday 9th August, in London - and one of the special treats for visitors will be cake.  And what a cake it is!

Seriously, I am very impressed by how this treat has turned out.  The cake has been modelled after the classic Green Hill Zone from the original Sonic the Hedgehoggame, complete with; waterfall, bridge, jumping piranha, checkpoint (star) post and Sonic’s shoes, (no Sonic though, perhaps he forgot to tie his laces before running off at speed).

Take into account this cake was not made by a professional, and she (Joanne Wheatley), did it in her spare time.  I think you can all agree that it’s very cool.  Here is what she had to say on the subject of “that F*****g cake!”:

Sega Japan still showing that arcade lovin’… in private

Mystery Arcade MachinesAccording to German site, Gamefront, Sega of Japan is due to hold four secret events, in three locations, showing off some of their latest arcade machines, this July.

Unfortunately right now we have no details at all on what the machines are, or what type of machines they will be, i.e - game, gambling, grabber or other.

But Gamefront has supplied the dates and (rough) locations of the events;

So I suggest any Japanese readers here get out there, and try to peak through as many windows as possible, and get photographs!  Just make sure the windows don’t belong to any schools before taking pictures, otherwise you might have some serious questions to answer with the police.

If noone can break into the events, not to worry.  I’m sure we will hear more about the arcade machines in due course.
