E3 2008: Sonic Chronicles gameplay footage
Posted by Graham. Filed under Europe, G, News, Nintendo DS, Sonic, Video. Tagged with E3 2008, Sonic Chronicles, Summer of Sonic.
Yeah E3 has been over for a couple of days now, but we have just been shown a new video someone recorded at the event, of Sonic Chronicles.
The video shows a little bit of Sonic running around on the world map, but mainly consists of some battle action. This could be a good chance for anyone interested to get a close look at what the game is like.
If anyone is a little confused with what’s going on in the battles - as you see lots of random blue circles appear - then be sure to read mine and George’s previews of the game.
Also for those attending, you should be glad to hear that Sonic Chronicles will be playable at this years Summer of Sonic event in London. You could be among the first people to get their hands on the game this August, before its release this September.

E3 2008: Valkyrie Chronicles, screens, details and Sony being stupid
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with E3 2008, Valkyria Chronicles.
This is still one of the most anticipated games among us Sega Nerds. Valkyria Chronicles is possibly one of the few games out there that will make me want to buy a PS3. The unique graphical style, and solid gameplay makes it into the “must have” title that it is.
However, Sony has caused some confusion recently, when the game’s title appeared on a list of upcoming PSP games. And then, at E3 Sony showcased a video in which you saw Valkyria Chronicles running on the PSP! - Which we reported on the other day.
The company has already denied the rumours, and it seems that Sega bosses are none too happy - as Kotaku reports:
“Chalk its appearance at Sony’s E3 media briefing up to a massive blunder on Sony’s part. Sega president Simon Jeffery sounded none too pleased about the flub when we talked to him earlier today and hinted that Sony was on the receiving of serious tongue-lashing from the publisher. Oops!”
I’m not sure if this is some Sony rep being a total cretin, or perhaps just being overally ambitious. Though it is strange that the video shown was clearly of a PSP, with Valkyria Chronicles (supposedly) running on it.
Well, whatever the case, Sega has published some real screens, and details of the game, which you can find after the break.
E3 2008: Space Siege
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, PC. Tagged with E3 2008, Gas Powered Games, Space Siege.
Another game that has been receiving mixed emotions is Space Siege, by Gas Powered Games. The last isometric shooter-style game that Sega published, Alien Syndrome (Wii and PSP), did not go down too well with Sega fans or critics. So it’s not a surprise that some people might be worried.
However Space Siege is a spiritual sequel to the popular Dungeon Siege and is being handled by the same company, so all should be good - we hope. The game certainly looks and sounds better than Alien Syndrome - with a deeper gameplay style, and RPG elements.
Anyway, it’s good to see some new screens and details on the game.

E3 2008: Dinosaur King [Updated]
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Nintendo DS. Tagged with Dinosaur King, E3 2008.
[Update: Article has been updated with the E3 Trailer (above), in place of the logo - now shown with screenshots]
Sega has released several new screenshots for the upcoming DS title, Dinosaur King. I played the original arcade version at the ATEI show last year - which required players to use (physical) cards, which you collect from the machine itself, to help defeat your enemies… at the deadly art of Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Anyway, the new DS title takes the game down a different route - turning the experience into more of a RPG, and from the sounds of it, it will bear many similaritites to Pokemon. Collecting Dinosaurs, and getting them to fight… I think the Nintendo fanboys are going to go wild about this ;o)
More details after the break.
E3 2008: Empire: Total War
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, PC. Tagged with Creative Assembly, E3 2008, Empire: Total War.

No new news on the Empire’s front. But a few new screenshots have been released, for this highly anticipated addition to the Total War franchise.
I’m not really into RTS games much, but the more I see this game, the more I want it!

E3 2008: Golden Axe: Beast Rider, details and lack of co-op explained
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with E3 2008, Golden Axe Beast Rider, Secret Level.
This game has caused a lot of mixed emotions from the depths of the Sega Nerds members.
Some people are just outraged at the idea of only being able to play as Tyris, and the game having no form of co-op mode - which is what the series is famed for. And some people just seem to be angry at other issues with the game - one thing I heard was that the game looks “too brown.” Well i guess, each to their own (I’ve complained about random things before now).
Others are trying to stay more positive on the situation - which is a catagory I guess I fall under. I think the game looks like it has the potential to be a decent Hack N’ Slash title. I’m not looking at it as a true Golden Axe sequel though, more of a spin-off action title.
Anyway, Sega has released a few more screenshots and details on the game. Plus they have given a response to the mounting complaints about the lack of co-op, as Joystiq hunted down Sega’s VP of marketing, Sean Ratcliffe, and asked him the awkward question.
E3 2008: Yakuza 2
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Sony PlayStation 2. Tagged with E3 2008, Yakuza 2.
Well no doubt some of you already know what Yakuza 2 is about. Hopefully most of you will have played the awesome original, and perhaps some of you have imported the Japanese version of the game - seeing as it was released well over a year ago - December 2006 in Japan.
But if you don’t know much about the game, Sega has given us details, plus a few screenshots of the English version.
I think the visuals are looking crisper than the first one, and the game looks just a violent - which is all good.
Details on the game after the break.
E3 2008: Infinite Space
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, News, Nintendo DS. Tagged with E3 2008, Infinite Line, Infinite Space, Platinum Games.

So it seems that Infinite Line, from Platinum games, has now been given it’s official name - Infinite Space.
At the original press conference, Infinite Line, was one game that the company did not talk much about - and could only show us a few early development screens.
Well not too much has changed there, we still only have a few concept pieces - three ships from the game.
But Sega has revealed some juicy details on the game’s premise. More details after the break.
E3 2008: Bayonetta

The guys at Platinum Games are still keeping quiet about the finer details to Bayonetta. So far we have only seen a quick video, and a few FMV screens. At E3 Sega released a few more screens, but not in-game ones by the looks of it.
What we have is a small set of concept art pieces. But it should help give us all an idea of what to expect from the game, in the future.

E3 2008: Alpha Protocol
Posted by Graham. Filed under G, Microsoft Xbox 360, News, PC, Sony PlayStation 3. Tagged with Alpha Protocol, E3 2008, Obsidian.
While the information given out at E3 didn’t really give much in the way of (if any) new details, it’s still great to see Sega show off the game, with these screenshots.
Frankly I’m dead excited for this game. I have always loved the whole concept of espionage and spying games - which is why I still love Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on the N64 (just a pity all other James Bond games and PD: Zero suck). I just hope Obsidian can give us the promises they are making.
More details and screens after the break.
