I have put in hours into the Japanese demo of Yakuza 3, enough hours that it is embarrassing to admit. I decided to give you some hands on impressions and a tiny tour of the demo. This is only a byte sized glimpse of what will be in the full retail behemoth.

The headline says it all: Shacknews reports that a demo for Creative Assembly’s Empire: Total War will be available for download on Valve’s Steam distribution service tomorrow at 4pm GMT (11am EST). Get your modems ready!
Empire: Total War is set for a March 3 release on PC at retailers and on Steam.

Yakuza 3 demo hits Japanese Playstation Store tomorrow [Update]

Yakuza 3 demo is supposed to hit PSN sometime tomorrow. What will be in the demo? Well there will obviously be fighting, that was a given. You can also try out some of the minigames like Answer x Answer, UFO Catcher and a shooting minigame (that we haven’t seen yet, I don’t think) created for Yakuza 3.
I would suggest those that have a Playstation 3 download it as soon as possible, unlike the PSN store in the United States, the Japanese store deletes demos. I would know, they deleted the Yakuza Kenzan! demo.
Another note, Famitsu gave Yakuza 3 a 10/9/10/9, that equals to 38/40. This is the same score that Yakuza 2 got, while Yakuza Kenzan! received 37/40.

Phantasy Star Portable English demo on PSN

Phantasy Star Portable demo hit PSN last night, what a surprise. I wasn’t really expecting it, I was actually on to try Killzone 2. If you are interested in downloading it make sure you have 272 MB of free space on your memory stick.
“Check out the long awaited demo of Phantasy Star Portable and experience what others have been enjoying for years. Up to four friends will team up to unravel the exclusive new storyline that picks up where Phantasy Star Universe ends and before the start of PSU: Ambition of the Illuminus.”
The demo is rated E for everyone. Yes that means your grandma can play it too.

Sonic Unleashed demo available on XBL

Just a few days ago, we told you the news that Sega is planning to release a demo of Sonic Unleashed. At the time very little information was given out, (in fact just eight words were given to us) and we were told that more information would be announced later this week.
Well while we wait for Sega to give us more details, we at Sega Nerds can give you some information ourselves. The Sonic Unleashed demo is actually up on Xbox Live Marketplace right now!
The good news is that you only play as Sonic in the demo. The bad news is that the demo only contains one level - the first proper Apotos level (not the training level).
The demo doesn’t really show off the full experience the game offers, but in some ways that could be a good thing, as I am sure that playing as the Werehog would put off a lot of people.
Unfortunately, due to not owning a PS3, I cannot tell you if this is also available on the Sony platform - if anyone wants to check and let us know, that would be grand.
So if you haven’t yet played the full game, but are interested to see how Sonic plays, then check it out on XBL now. The demo takes up a respectable 186.51MB of your hard disk - which is a godsend for people like me with bugger all free space.
Sonic Unleashed demo coming soon

For those that are curious about Sonic Unleashed but have been put off by many of the reviews going around, then you are in luck. Sega Europe has mentioned, on their blog, that a demo of Sonic Unleashed is on its way. The full details are yet to be revealed, and this is all we have been told:
“Sonic.
Unleashed.
Demo.
It’s coming.
More next week.”
Well simple and straight to the point, I guess. So we shall just have to wait and see what the demo will bring to us. I can only assume the demo will be on both Xbox 360 and PS3 services, though Sega might do something crazy and only put it on one of them.
I just hope they do something sensible and show off a couple of Sonic’s levels, as the general consensus is that the Werehog is the worst part of the game, (if you are trying to sell something, always best to show the good stuff). Stay tuned for more information as it is revealed in the coming week.
