Check out the new Stormrise developer dairy where they talk about the two factions in the game, the Echelon and the Sai.
This game will be released with Halo Wars as its competition, so far it looks like its going to go bust. I mean Sega has to have something really cool up their sleeves, I hope!

Empire: Total War goes Steam powered

Sega Europe has announced that the upcoming PC title, Empire: Total War will be incorporating Steamworks as it’s online client.
Players will be able utilise Steam for the game’s online multiplayer, enabling game updates, downloadable content, friend-list support and achievements. Plus server browsing and match-making functions.
“We are delighted to be working with an infrastructure as effective as Steam” said Mike Simpson, Studio Director at the Creative Assembly. “Having their matchmaking and support systems on board for Empire; Total War makes a huge difference both for players and for the development team. It not only helps make multiplayer slick and sizzling, it also frees up a huge chunk of the team’s time which helps make the whole game better.”
“Total War has become one of the most successful franchises in PC strategy gaming, one of the industry’s mainstay genres,” said Gabe Newell , president of Valve. “We’re honored Sega selected Steamworks as they expand the franchise with leading-edge online services.“

Creative Assembly talks more on Empire’s naval battles

Leipzig may have been a little while ago now, but Gamereactor has recently posted up an interview with Kieran Brigden, Community Manager for The Creative Assembly, from the show.
Kieran talks a fair bit about the new naval battle system in their upcoming game, Empire: Total War, and what different factors players will need to take into account when commanding their ships about.
It sounds like weather will play a big part in the naval battles, and players will get to experience very different types of seas as they fight in different locations across the world - mentioned was the Caribbean (sunny, calm winds)Â and also the North Sea (wet, wild and strong winds).
One other cool thing mentioned was the fire effects, which sound awesome. The more I see this game, the more I want it.

GC 2008: Stormrise

Since the announcement trailer just before E3 this year, and then the additional screenshots shown at E3, we haven’t heard or seen anything from the Creative Assembly’s Stormrise.
Unfortunately there is no new information on the game, but Sega has let out a few new screenshots, to wet our apetites.
GC 2008: Empire Total War - Naval gameplay

The more I see of Empire: Total War, the more I keep saying to myself “Damn, I gotta upgrade my PC!”
While my PC can happily run the other Total War games, judging from the video and gameplay screenshots, it really does look like I will need to do some upgrading. Sometimes I cannot believe that I’m looking at a RTS game, with the close up shots.

E3 2008: Empire: Total War

No new news on the Empire’s front. But a few new screenshots have been released, for this highly anticipated addition to the Total War franchise.
I’m not really into RTS games much, but the more I see this game, the more I want it!

Sega announces new RTS: Stormrise

If the Total War franchise isn’t enough to fulfill your Real Time Strategy needs, then the guys at The Creative Assembly aren’t done with you yet, as Sega announces Stormrise.
Interestingly though, this is one RTS which won’t be available for PC gamers, at first. Stormrise is being specifically developed for both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, by The Creative Assembly’s Australian studio. But Sega has said that a PC version of the game is planned - which means it will no doubt be released shortly after the console versions.
Apparently the game will take full use of it’s 3D environment, letting you control units in the air, on buildings, on the ground and under-ground.

Empire: Total War teaser trailer

Today Sega/The Creative Assembly released a lovely teaser for their upcoming addition to the Total War series, Empire: Total War.
While this video may not really show much of the gameplay, this game looks pretty damn good, from the screenshots and other trailers I have seen, especially for a RTS game. Let’s hope it holds up to the other Total War games.
