Sega ships Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars

Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, for the PSP, has, today, shipped to stores across America. For the first time, in a Crazy Taxi game, players can compete against each other, wirelessly.
“With over 2.7 million games sold to date in the Crazy Taxi series, SEGA is excited to revitalize this fun, frantic, and highly addictive classic from its vault of top hits,” said Scott Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, Sega of America, Inc. “With the newly added multiplayer modes in Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, and an easy to use custom music player, this PSP system exclusive brings back the fun on wheels for endless gaming on the go.”
The game will feature 4 levels from the first two Crazy Taxi titles, which origianlly appeared on the Dreamcast. This means that players will be able to race through the streets, scaring the sh*t out of their passengers, through the streets of a fake San Francisco, and a fake New York City.
The game will also feature some 32 mini-games, custom soundtracks (So if the standard punk rock, that Crazy Taxi usually offers, doesn’t suit you, then you can easily play your favourite ABBA tracks, as you tear up the streets). Plus the game is set to include many unlockables, including interviews with Kenji Kanno, the original producer of Crazy Taxi.
The game should be going for around $29.95, be sure to check out Sega.com for more information.

Crazy Taxi producer talks about random crap

In this interview, IGN talks with Kenji Kanno, the producer for Crazy Taxi 1 and 2, and asks some of the most ridiculous questions I’ve heard in a while.
But within all the confusion, Kanno does say that he’d like to see a Crazy Taxi game that explores the lifestyle of a taxi driver. I guess there could be a small contingent of people with more boring lives than that of a taxi driver who might find such a game interesting and insightful.
Sega releases latest Crazy Taxi trailer

With Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars releasing on the PSP Aug. 7, I’m pretty sure everything you see in this clip is from the final version. The graphics look pretty good, but there is some noticeable pop-ups at times, which may or may not matter to most of you.
Next round of Sega titles dated for Europe
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, News. Tagged with Alien Syndrome, Crazy Taxi, Phantasy Star Universe, Sega Rally Revo.

German videogame site Gamefront has confirmed the release date for the rest of this year’s announced Sega titles:
- Sept. 7 - Alien Syndrome (PSP, Wii)
- Sept. 7 - Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars (PSP)
- Sept. 28 - Sega Rally (360, PS3, PSP)
- Nov. 30 - Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii, DS)
- Winter - PSU: Ambition of the Illuminus (360)
Although North American gamers already have a good idea when Alien Syndrome and Crazy Taxi will release, these release dates give us a good indication when the rest of the games will be released here, as well.
I still can’t wait to see more on Mario & Sonic, and no Graham, this game has no chance in hell in outselling Halo 3. I’m sorry, but it ain’t happening.
Latest Crazy Taxi gameplay screens released, still crazy as ever
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Sony PSP. Tagged with Crazy Taxi.
Sega’s released nearly a dozen new Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars screens, and I must say the game looks … well, pretty damn close to what it’s always looked. I guess there’s only so many times you can see cars flying around the screen with angry passengers in the back seat before they start blending together.
Although I must say, it does look nice to see the game utilizing the PSP’s beautiful widescreen.
Fare Wars combines the “craziness” from the first two games, but adds in new features like multiplayer modes, custom soundtracks and the option of saving videos to replay later.
Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars ships July 31. See more newly released screens after the jump.
More Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars craziness

I’m sure by now you know just about everything there is to know about Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars. The game combines bits from the first two crazy adventures, adds a dash of multiplayer, sprinkles some mini-games in for good measure and lastly, gives a heaping helping of custom soundtracks.
Yep, that’s about all you need to know about Fare Wars, which is set to release sometime in June.
New round of Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars screens released

With Crazy Taxi: Fare War’s release still a few weeks away, Sega has kindly released a new round of screens to get all you eager Sega Nerds all hot and sweaty.
While you won’t find too much new in terms of gameplay, locales, etc. if you’re a seasoned Crazy Taxi fan, Sega has done a good job of offering entirely new features and content. One of my favorites is the ability to use custom soundtracks from your Memory Stick. Additionally, there’s Ad Hoc multiplayer and loads of minigames.
This is definitely a game on my radar.
Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars multiplayer modes revealed
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Sony PSP. Tagged with Crazy Taxi.

In an interview with Gamasutra, Sniper Studios co-founder Jeff Hasson revealed what we here at Sega Nerds HQ have been wondering for awhile - what Crazy Taxi: Fare War’s multiplayer modes will be like.
Fare Ware will sport three multiplayer modes: Time Trial, CRAZY and Head to Head.
“Time Trial, to best your opponents time, CRAZY, like the basketball game H.O.R.S.E and Head to Head, where you battle an opponent for fares, steal fares and go at it for the best score,” Hasson said.
Hasson also said developing Fare Wars was a “perfect first title for us to sink our teeth into with Sega who has been great partners to us. We are all fans of the series; felt it would be a nice fit for the handheld, and that we could do it well so we went for it.”
Currently, Sega has Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars listed to release in June, but Gamestop’s listing says it won’t arrive on shelves until July 31.

Another Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars gameplay video
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Sony PSP, Video. Tagged with Crazy Taxi.
While this IGN video doesn’t really show anything that we don’t already know about Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, it does give you a good idea how not to play the game. This guy sucks some serious ass.
If you don’t know, the PSP’s Fare Wars basically combines the best parts of the original Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2. Sniper Studios also is adding wireless multi-player, the ability to play music from your Memory Stick in the game, and more than 30 mini-games meant to make you a better taxi driver.
While from all looks (or should I say sounds) of it, the game’s soundtrack is pretty disappointing when compared to the rest of the series, it’s great to be able to play music off your Memory Stick. Heck, you can even put the first two soundtracks on there and play them in the game!
