Preview: Condemned 2: Bloodshot

Some of you may know, (and more probably won’t know), that I had the opportunity to visit Sega Europe a couple of weeks ago. Over at Sega HQ, I and several other journalists were lucky enough to get our hands on The Club and Condemned 2, and also we had a chance to interview two of the guys from Bizarre Creations, who worked on The Club. It was all very exciting.

Unfortunately we were told to keep our mouths shut about Condemned 2 or someone would forced feed our grandmothers marmite sandwiches.  Fortunately my grandmother likes marmite, the crazy old broad.  So I am free to bring you guys the goods on Condemned 2: Bloodshot. Hooray!

To start off, we were given a quick introduction, which also involved some drinks, cakes and pastry treats, and then got down to the nitty gritty by playing Condemned 2’s multiplayer.

Now, what I should emphasize is the build we played wasn’t finished, so hopefully, the major flaws will be ironed out come release time.

For those of you who don’t know (which would be most people outside the UK), GAME is the UK’s leading video games store. 

Just like any typical gaming store, they cater for all areas of gaming, including Sega Nerds now, it seems.

On the home page to the GAME website, (at the time of writing this), there is a clear icon down the right hand column, which leads to a Sega specific area - shown in screendump below.

Eight bum killing minutes of Condemned 2

The guys at Monolith Productions have been touting this revamped combat system in Condemned 2: Bloodshot, and this newly released eight-minute video is probably the best evidence yet.

The game will be released on March 11 in the US, and March 14 in Europe, so get ready for some good ol’ fashion bum killing!

See a few Condemned 2 screens, new gallery system

Just to follow up on James’ previous post, which revealed Condemned 2: Bloodshot’s multiplayer modes, here are several new screens released from Sega highlighting it, as well.

Truthfully, this was just a way for us to show you our new gallery system, which we hope works well for everyone. Please let us know if you have any issues and what you think of it.

Condemned 2 multiplayer revealed

After quite some time Sega has revealed details concerning the multiplayer aspects of their forthcoming game Condemned 2 : Bloodshot, which ships March 11th and 14th in the U.S. and U.K., respectively.

Online multiplayer will support up to eight players at a time, and the developers have included four different game-types. Along with the standard deathmatch style fare that gamers expect from a first-person-shooter, developer Monolith has seen fit to try spicing up the genre with some game modes players could find very surprising.

Game modes are as follows:

• Deathmatch- This is the standard free-for-all. Players run around, picking up whatever weapons they come across and with said weapons try to smash, shoot, strangle, or stab as many of their opponents as possible. Highest number of kills at the end of the round wins, of course.
• Team Deathmatch- Team gameplay that follows the same general rules as free-for-all. The team with the most kills at the end of the round wins.
• Bum Rush- In this mode a team of police are vastly outnumbered by the opposing team, who are crazed hobos. The Hobos try to kill every member of the opposite team before the three-minute timer runs down.
• Crime Scene- While a team of detectives tries to find briefcases of evidence using gadgets and tools from the single-player game, the opposing team tries to hide the evidence- and also, kill the detectives. P.s. The briefcases have skulls in them…

Gamers will find online mayhem in both the Xbox360 and Playstation 3 versions of Condemned 2.

Previously we had teased you with the outline of prizes we had on offer, and now I give you the rules, regulations and (most importantly) the questions, with which you will need to win.

Rules:  We have 4 seperate bundles of prizes to give away.  Each bundle has a question to go with it.  All you need do is choose which of the prizes bundles you would like to try and win, and answer the corresponding question, and then send your answer(s) to us (contact info coming up).

You can enter to win as many of the bundles you want to, however, we will pick the winners for each bundle in order (starting with 4, ending with 1), and should your name be chosen for Bundle 4, you will not be eligeble for any of the other bundles.

So if you really want to win Bundle 1, it could be wise not to enter for all 4 bundles, in case you ‘accidentally’ win a different bundle.  But, then again, if you just want to win some Sega gaming goodies, then go ahead and enter for all the bundles!

New Condemned 2 trailer….awww yeah!

Gamespot has recently put up a new trailer for Condemned 2: Bloodshot, and the game is looking blindingly good, in my opinion.

Well we have all seen gameplay footage and screenshots by now, but this new video is more like a movie trailer, with Ethan Thomas (the poor sod you play as), narrating, as the video gives us a good idea of what to expect from the story, and plenty of bloody violence.

The trailer has been rated 18+, so you may need to enter your birth date to view it.  Any under-age viewers should not watch the trailer… or at least do it when your parents are not in the room!  You have been warned.
