New Bleach trailer released

Sega has released a new Japanese trailer for the upcoming game, Bleach: Versus Crusade, on the Wii with plenty of in-game footage, showing s what to expect from the game.  Versus Crusade looks to be quite similar to Shattered Blade (the first Bleach game on the Wii), but actually looks like it has been improved.

For one thing the arenas look much more imaginative, with different layouts and objects (like the small vans) to keep things interesting - Shattered Blade’s arenas were open ground and quite bland really.

Also, as the advert states, Bleach: Versus Crusade will feature online Wi-Fi battles, which is nice.

Sega has served up a lovely dish of screenshots and a video for the upcoming Bleach: Dark Souls, for the Nintendo DS.

I know bugger all about Bleach the show (or the games), and so I have no idea what is happening in the gameplay video above, but no doubt it will get any Bleach/anime fans excited.

All the E3 screens, and details on the game - after the break.

It appears that Sega doesn’t believe the gaming masses have had enough of the BLEACH series because it has just announced a new entry into the series is coming stateside. BLEACH: Dark Souls was developed by Treasure and will also be localized by the legendary developer. Sega promises Dark Souls will sport a ton of improvements over last year’s BLEACH: The Blade of Fate.

“With an exclusive storyline, an expanded playable character roster and spectacular new Bankai moves, BLEACH: Dark Souls is set to build upon the critical success of BLEACH: Blade of Fate,” said Don Mesa, Sega of America’s director of marketing. “The BLEACH franchise continues to gain momentum with anime fans and gamers alike in North America and Sega is there to create a robust and exciting gaming experience that stays true to its anime roots.”

Sega didn’t include a firm release date along with the announcement, but did say it’ll come sometime this summer. We expect that with the second season of the TV series debuting at the beginning of the month, Sega wants it out as soon as possible.

TGS07: Bleach DS hands-on impressions

 Bleach DS

Now I’m going to be honest, I have never seen an episode of Bleach or played a game, (if there are other games), well you would no doubt find out soon enough, from reading this, if I hadn’t told you.  I know of Bleach, that it exists, but nothing else, what it’s about of characters, nothing.

While some may see that as being bad, some can also think it’s good.  I am pretty impartial on this, so my views should not be swayed by bias, (not that they normally are).  But due to my lack of knowledge, this could be a pretty short article.

The Bleach DS game, was located opposite Ghost Squadand had two systems setup for play, linked to tv sets, so people could watch you play, without bending over your shoulder.

TGS 2007: Day one overview

TGS Big sega sign

Well hello there fellow Sega Nerdians.  It is I Graham, and I have just finished for the day at Tokyo Game Show.

It was a worrying time for a while, as we were told at one point we wouldn’t be allowed Press Passes this year (another sucky thing about not being paid for this job!).  However, I managed to use my cunning, guile and my amazing charms to get myself tickets for all 4 days.  So after flashing my collection of thongs at the lady, and blinding her, I managed to nab a pass, and got into the show.

Right now, I’m incredibly tired and hungry - walking around for some 9 hours definitely wears a hole in your socks!  So because of this, I have decided to give you guys a very quick overview of my experiences today.  A quick guide to some of the games I played, and some brief impressions.

But do not worry, over the next couple of days, I shall definitely be bringing you the goods, with plenty of videos, pictures and honest opinions on the upcoming games from Sega, plus some big games from some other companies - and a few smaller ones.

What did I see/do today?

We might be getting the first Bleach DS game next month, but in Japan they’re already announcing the third game. Bleach: The 3rd Phantom will not be like the past two games. This game will be a strategy RPG.

According to The-Magicbox, the game will have an original story and protagonist.  Looking at the screens, this game is looking a lot like the Megaman Power Battle games.  I don’t know if that’s a good thing.

Sega’s official Bleach site opens

Sega has opened the offical Bleach game site ahead of the release of Bleach: Shattered Blade and Bleach: The Blade of Fate for the Wii and DS, respectively. These two games will be the first Bleach games to be introduced in the West.

I actually imported Bleach: The Blade of Fate; It’s a great game and was developed by Treasure Inc. (Gunstar Hero Fame). The Japanese title is Bleach DS: The Fate That Runs Towards Heaven (long enough?).

Now for I haven’t played Bleach: Shattered Blade since it wasn’t developed by Treasure (I’m a Treasure fanboy) and the Wii isn’t region free.

Both games are slated to hit American shores October 9 and can be pre-ordered here.

Well, most of the line-up we have seen at this year’s E3, besides the new Creative Assembly game. It seems that it will be labeled a ‘world exclusive’ . It seems that the rumor we had last time is coming true. Could this be Rome: Total War 2?

SEGA will also have Virtua Fighter 5 playable, much like this year’s E3. But this time you will be able to try out the online mode. Also a worthy note, Golden Axe doesn’t appear anywhere in the line-up.

The rest of the line up is as follows:

IGN get the Bleach out, in the US

That’s right, (if you haven’t quite understood the title), the lucky chaps at IGN have been able to get their grubby mits on the English language (that is to say, US) version of the upcoming Wii and DS game, Bleach, at the Comic-Con in San Diego.

The game isn’t due out in the west until later this year (fall, sometime), but from the sounds of it the western release is shaping up to be the same as the Japanese version… but now, all of us uneducated westerners can actually understand the game.

“Bleach: Shattered Blade isn’t a “follow the USA story” kind of game; it’s a straight port of the Japanese release. This means that while Bleach may not be as far in America as it is over in Japan, you’re still going to get all 28 fighters {Note: Actually 32 fighters- IGN are mistaken it seems} with each of their extra costumes, tons of concept art and fan-service bonus features, storyline pieces that may go above and beyond what the worldwide crowd knows outside of Japan, and most importantly you’ll get fighters that may not be in the English story first. You asked, so we passed the question along.”

To help summarise;

“Bleach Wii is for all the import nuts out there that wanted Bleach but didn’t want to worry about the Japanese text, and SEGA is bringing the full game to the US with no changes made (aside from localization, of course).”

From what they say, in the full article, the game sounds pretty fun.  To read more of what IGN thought of the US version, be sure check out their preview.
