Well it was pretty inevitable, with the Beijing Olympics being a pretty big success, Olympic fever has hit the gaming shelves, putting Sega’s sales in some pretty respectable positions in the charts.
Three new Sega games on Steam

Three “new” Sega titles have been released on Steam, the popular digital distribution service for PC games. The titles are Space Siege ($49.99), The Incredible Hulk: The Official Video Game ($29.99) and Beijing 2008 - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games ($29.99). OH BOY!!
That’s about all there is to say about that, since I haven’t played any of these games, and at those prices I probably won’t any time soon. I got more important things to buy. Like hamburgers. Burgin’.

Sega racing for the podium in the UK

Yeah ok, that title is a crap way of implying that Sega is currently standing in the UK charts with two sports titles. Olympic titles to be precise.
Beijing Olympics 2008 see’s itself climb four positions this week, hitting fifth place. And Mario & Sonic Olympics is still hanging in the charts, at number eight.
It would have been cool to see Beijing hit a higher position, however as I’m not a massive fan of Olympic titles, my only reason would be to see Sega beating out THQ’s Big Beach Sports -at number four.
The full top ten chart will appear after the break.
Review: Beijing Olympics 2008

In my lifetime I have only ever played one Olympics game which I have really enjoyed, and that was (surprisingly) last year’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympics.
On the whole I can play them, and find some enjoyment - but when it all comes down to it, tapping two buttons constantly to make a guy run forward isn’t my idea of a good game. Which is why I found Mario & Sonic fun, because the controls felt more ‘realistic’ and made the game fun - plus the added bonus of watching Sonic swim with a life-jacket.
So this is Sega’s next attempt at recreating the Beijing Olympic games, but this time with a heck of a lot more realism. So how does it compare to the Wii-waggling fun of Mario & Sonic?
Let’s see some Beijing 2008 footage

Sega released a couple Beijing 2008 videos today that feature the track and field events of the summer Olympics. Curiously though, the track trailer showcases a variety of European runners winning their heats. For serious, when was the last time any European countries won any medals during the summer Olympics?
Oooh burn!
Sonic Unleashed not heading to the DS
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Nintendo DS. Tagged with Beijing 2008, Sonic Unleashed.
Apparently, Nintendo caused some recent confusion when it released its Nintendo DS summer release schedule, which curiously included Sonic Unleashed on the list. However, Sega quickly clarified the mistake with and said that Sonic will not be unleashed on the DS.
Additionally, Nintendo listed Beijing 2008 as heading to the Nintendo Wii, but Sega also said that there won’t be a remote-wagging version for the Olympic title. I guess Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is selling well enough that Sega doesn’t need another title on the platform.
Sonic Unleashed is being developed for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii and should be released sometime in November, while Beijing 2008 is set to release in July on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
