Armored Core 4 demo hits Xbox Live
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris, Microsoft Xbox 360. Tagged with Armored Core 4.

Japan received the Armored Core 4 demo nearly a month ago, and now Sega has found it in its heart to release it to us Yankees.
It doesn’t seem like it’s any different from the Japanese demo, allowing players to play three full levels and is about 700mb.
What I find strange, though, is that Sega and Microsoft waited so long in getting the demo released. The game released was released March 20, and most demos are released a bit before the full version hits retail.
Crazy-awesome new Armored Core 4 video

Say what you will about Sega, but if there’s one thing you can count on is they know how to make some insane commercials for the games they’re publishing. Just take a look at this new Armored Core 4 video that was released today.
Doesn’t that just get you excited for some mech-on-mech action? Well, you can get all you want and then some when it releases on the Xbox 360 and PS3 March 23.
Much success! Sega ships five titles this week
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris. Tagged with After Burner, Armored Core 4, Shining Force, Virtua Tennis.
This is the week all the Sega Nerds (Well, at least the ones in North America) have been waiting for since Sonic and the Secret Rings was released. Sega is shipping five … count ‘em, five games this week!
I like that Sega is supporting several platforms in this batch of releases:
- After Burner: Black Falcon (PSP)
- Full Auto 2: Battlelines (PSP)
- Shining Force EXA (PS2)
- Virtua Tennis 3 (Xbox 360, PS3)
- Armored Core 4 (Xbox 360, PS3)
I’ve heard mixed reactions about After Burner, which is developed by Planet Moon Studios. Apparently, a lot of people just don’t like it very much, but IGN did enough to give it a 79, and that ain’t that bad.
Now, Full Auto 2 is the only game out of the batch that is a port of its console big brother. But if this PSP title is anything like what Warren has played on the PS3 version, we should all be in for a nice treat.
Shining Force EXA looks to be an interesting game, but like After Burner, it’s received mixed reviews thus far. But with all the changes Sega has implemented since the last iteration, it looks to be worthy of a look.
We’ve played the Virtua Tennis 3 demo on Xbox Live, so we know what to expect. I just can’t wait to get into those awesome mini-games, check out the player creator and finally beat Federer’s weak ass again.
Lastly, we have Armored Core 4, which also ships last, on March 23. Now I’ll admit that I’ve never been the family AC guy, no, that title has gone to my younger brother who has some pretty damn good mech-fighting skills. I know he’s excited for this game, so may have to check it out if only because of the eight-player online multi-player.
This is quite a big week for Sega. When was the last time you guys remember any publisher releasing four games on the same day and another a few days later? So now that we know what Sega has in store for us, which of these games do you fellas plan to pick up?
In-depth look at Armored Core 4 factions

One of the key features in FromSoftware’s Armored Core 4 is the ability to choose from one of six different factions, each with a different approach to battle.
Today, we’re going in-depth with those factions and highlighting what you can expect to see from each one. And it couldn’t be at a better time as Armored Core 4 is set to ship March 20 on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

EGM reviews Sega’s Games of March - not good
Posted by Chris. Filed under Chris. Tagged with After Burner, Armored Core 4, Crazy Taxi, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Virtua Tennis.
In our first Sega Nerdcast, Graham and I talked extensively about the importance of Sega’s new games releasing this month. And according to EGM’s April issue, it doesn’t look like we should get too excited for what Sega has in store for us.
Here’s how Sega’s games stacked up.
- After Burner: Black Falcon (PSP) – 6.5, 2, 5.5ÂÂ
- Armored Core 4 (Xbox 360, PS3) – 4, 6.5, 4
- Shining Force EXA (PS2) – 6, 7, 4
- Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii) – 7.5, 6, 6
- Virtua Tennis 3 (PS3) – 6.5, 7.5, 8
While EGM’s scores are definitely not the death nail in Sega’s proverbial coffin, they are definitely concerning. We’ll make sure to keep an eye out for the rest of the reviews as they come around.
Review Roundup: Armored Core 4
Posted by Chris. Filed under Uncategorized. Tagged with Armored Core 4, Review Roundup.
Now that the U.S. launch of Armored Core 4 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 is mere days away, the reviews are beginning to trickle in.
And while it doesn’t seem AC4 will attract many new fans to the genre, those who are already slaves to its gameplay will buy it in droves like they always do. Yeah, you know who you are.
- EuroGamer (80/100) - Armored Core 4 is more accessible than its predecessors; and at its core, beneath the complicated controls and imposing arsenal of body parts, it’s a pretty simple, superfast, graceful and smart mech-combat game, and it deserves your attention.
- Play Magazine (75/100) - This is a game for tinkerers, where what you purchase and equip is every bit as important as how well you play.
- GameBrink (69/100) - Overall the mission design is boring and repetitive, the graphics are so-so, the online is blah, the customization is awesome, and the overall experience isn’t worth the price of admission. Pass.
Currently, Armored Core 4 has a 64 Metacritic score, but since there are only four reviews posted as of now, that number will surely change over the next few weeks.
AC4 hits the PS3 and Xbox 360 March 20 and will finally feature online play for up to eight players. If you want to know more about the game, be sure to check out Warren’s preview.

As you may or may not have heard, an Armored Core 4 demo for Xbox 360 has recently made it’s way to “our office” by way of Xbox Live. Sure, we both know that anyone with an Xbox Live account can download it, but just use your imagination. We’ll just pretend that Sega shipped the Sega Nerds a preview build … sealed with a kiss from both Love and Berry.
and Chuck D. Head.

…in Japan.
However, there’s a handy trick which enables all Xbox Live users to gain access to the Japanese Marketplace. I’ve been using this method for a good while now, so it’s got the Sega Nerds seal of approval.
I haven’t had a chance to check the demo out for myself, but I hear it’s very generous. 7 AC’s, 10 Training Missions and 3 full missions.
Armored Core 4, developed by From Software, is already available for Japanese PS3. Sega has the game lined up for a U.S. release (both PS3 and Xbox 360) on the 20th. The demo weighs in at around 700Mb. Happy downloading.
