We’re willing to bet there’s quite a few Sega Nerds out there who just can’t wait to get their hands on the pint-sized English of the Dead. Well, if you fall into this respectable category, we have some good news for you - Sega has just unleashed an English of the Dead online demo.
The demo allows players sample the game’s training mode through a browser based DS Lite. In the demo, hammer-wielding zombies approach where they must choose the grammatically correct word to complete the sentence. If you’re wrong, you get smashed in the face, but if you don’t suck, a trap door will open beneath the zombie, sending him into a pit where he’ll live out the rest of his undead life shambling around in the darkness.
BONUS: If you’ve already completed the demo and are thirsty for more, here’s an extra sentence for you to complete – Graham is ( ).
One of the most random, but charmingly quirky, websites I have ever seen, Toxicmag.co.uk, is holding a contest to win a Nintendo Wii and a copy of Sega Bass Fishing, courtesy of Sega.
Cast off with SEGA Bass Fishing! Use your Wii Remote to catch four different types of fish with over 20 moves. Thanks to SEGA, you could win a Wii and a copy of the game. Five runners-up get the game too!
Sega Bass FishingWii may not be the greatest game of all time, but no doubt if you won it you would find some hours of enjoyment lie underneath it’s surface.
So if you are yet to get your hands on a Wii… or the Nintendo console (hohoho, the Wii-Penis jokes will never tire) then perhaps now is the time to try and win one. It’s free, so you got nothing to lose.
It seems that European Xbox 360 owners can now purchase a brand new copy of Sega Rally for as little as £12.95. The game appears to have been reduced in a few stores recently. However, I was shopping the other day and saw it at a higher price of £35 - which is ok for a new game that has been out for a few month, but not as good as these online deals I found today:
So if you haven’t got into the driving seat of this fun arcade style racer, then perhaps you should give it a try. For less than £15, I would definitely say to get it.
Well we were all hoping and praying that Sega might bless us with some funky new peripherals for their upcoming Wii title, Samba De Amigo. But it seems like those dreams have been dashed, as IGN recently spoke with Sega on the subject.
“The Wii’s controllers enable players to enjoy Samba De Amigo’s unique gameplay without having to purchase an expensive peripheral,” said Rick Naylor, Director of Marketing at SEGA.
While the concept of waving and shaking your Wiimote and Nunchuck around to the game sounds like fun… hold on isn’t that what you do with every other Wii game?! (I kid).
Overall, Sega had a pretty decent week in this week’s UK charts, as Chart Track is reporting Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games is holding onto the third spot, while Iron Man debuted just outside of the top 10 at the 11th spot.
Grand Theft Auto IV
Wii Fit
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Wii Play
Mario Kart Wii
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warefare
Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Iron Man: The Official Videogame
Additionally, Sonic and the Secret Rings holds the down the 17th spot and Sega Superstars Tennis is at 21, dropping down seven spots from last week.
Valkyrie Chronicles is one game that a lot of Sega Nerds have been waiting for. We got to play an early demo way back last September at TGS, and were left with very high hopes for the game. IGN Australia has been able to get their hands on the full game, imported from Japan, and from the sounds of it the game is living up to expectations.
It’s been a while since we played a truly brilliant RPG from SEGA. Thinking about it, the last one was probably Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast back in 2001. Part of the problem in recent years has been SEGA’s lack of focus, with a handful of mediocre Shining Force spin-offs and dilution of Phantasy Star Online doing little to remind us of the Big S that was responsible for publishing such awesome RPGs as Shining Force III and Panzer Dragoon Saga. From what we’ve played of the Japanese version so far, Valkyria Chronicles could be right up there among SEGA’s finest
We love our fellow Sega Nerds … we truly do. However, this guy is just plain creepy in an “I’ll be your friend during the day, buy you a beer at the bar, crash on your couch then you’ll awake with me in your bed with a knife to your throat” kind of way.
Seriously, this guy has some problems, but the video’s name “Josh rants on Sega 1 of 3″ indicates that there’ll be two more videos to follow. Baby Jesus please help us.
Gametrailers has just updated its site with yet another PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 graphical comparison, only this time Sega’s Iron Man is getting all the attention. For possibly the first time, I can actually see a distinct difference between the two versions - the PS3 version appears to have very nice colors, while the Xbox 360’s colors look washed out.
But don’t let me decide for you; I want you guys to judge for yourself and tell us which you think looks better.
Sega blasted us with a slew of new The Incredible Hulk screens today that are chock full of the veiny, muscle-bound beast rampaging throughout the city. If you’d like to read the press release, you can read it after the jump.
Sega was the first third-party publisher to bring Xbox 360 and PC owners together with Universe at War. And it looks like the company is once again breaking boundaries as it appears Samba De Amigo could be the Nintendo Wii’s first Pay to Play title as Gamestop posted the game’s box art on its website, complete with the progam’s logo in the upper left-hand corner.
Nintendo announced its Pay to Play program at this year’s Game Developer’s Conference - a program that will bring microtransactions, downloadable content and possibly subscription services to the Wii.
Our obvious guess is Sega will offer up additional songs, characters and outfits that Sega Nerds will surely eat up, but it will be interesting to see if the developer goes a step beyond by offering up new gameplay modes or possibly online play to really increase the game’s longevity.
